The Grand Cafe

Yes, but you have 4!

Yep Iā€™m down to 3 pairs also these days

Luckily I have 2 places to live - I couldnā€™t fit all the gear into one. Harry says Iā€™m on a mission to have owned every piece of Naim gear that was ever manufactured before I depart this earth ha

Your lucky to have a great dealer to help achieve that mission.

My family wonā€™t even have a clue how to turn any of my stuff on/off. Such a waste, whatā€™s the old proverb ā€œlike giving strawberries to pigsā€ theyā€™ll sell it before Iā€™m cold :rofl::rofl:

Theyā€™ll have to ring Harry.

True, but I think the nascent Olive system coming together may be the final straw. When the 300 returns I may have to achieve domestic harmony by moving something on.

Sadly both Mrs Bruss and the offspring are in the same boat. I will have to find an ageing Grundig yacht boy or similar with an on/off switch for Mrs Bruss to use when Iā€™ve gone.

Yeah itā€™s pretty sad - my nephews and nieces just arenā€™t into music as I am, itā€™s not that important to them. My friends with sons and daughters also say the same thing

I guess competing priorities these days

Mrs & Miss Mike love music, but if they are on there own, itā€™s needs to be simple system. They might manage the Nova if nothing needs unplugging or connecting. Mrs Mike knows to call the dealer to flog it off if I go first. I can imagine the ā€œitā€™s worth how much ? what did it cost!ā€.

Iā€™ve suddenly worked it out, if I (a) can live long enough and (b) my hearing still works there maybe a lot of cheap gear for sale. I my end up with that 500 system after all.

Jeez, this threadā€™s harder to follow than Ulysses sometimes. Never felt truly comfortable with ā€˜stream of consciousnessā€™ style.
Whilst Iā€™m here, has anyone any idea why the Coronavirus thread has disappeared (presumably onto RDā€™s naughty step)? I posted one fairly non-contentious comment, and when I came back 24 hrs later it had gone!

Welcome in the Grand Cafe Timmo, do you want a beer or a good wine? Cheers.

This treat is the true incarnation of the bloke who had the name ā€˜consciousmessā€™ on the old site - it can go in any direction and I find it the most pleasant part of this site.

I muted that thread weeks ago, it seemed every time I posted something of value it was deleted.

Think Richard has a hard job keeping it within forum rules.

I have no idea whatā€™s happened to the Coronavirus thread. Although I was the OP. it is a few days since I dipped in. It will be a pity if it has gone as it carried lots of useful and interesting information, and provided an organ for people to express their feelings and concerns. Inevitably from time to time there were political comments, and occasionally it got a bit heated, which exercised Poor Richard rather a lot keeping an eye on it - and I am thankful for his forbearance to date. I do hope it returns.

Itā€™s back. I havenā€™t looked at it for a few days as Iā€™m not interested in the topic of vaccine compulsion. I think all that can be usefully said about that was said a while ago.

Yes, and I entered the vortex and will no doubt regret it. Really find the thought of imposing ones choices on another quite disturbing and out of place on the forum tbh.

I imagine that discussing forced vaccination without entering politics will be problematic and it might be better to close the thread now the way it has gone.

I would rather the Coronavirus thread wasnā€™t closed because there is lots of useful and interesting stuff that we will want to discuss about the defining situation of the era for a while yet.

Anyway I hope all is going ok for you and family. We all have other things going on in our lives, as I know you have, that are as important or more important to us than Covid. I havenā€™t mentioned our two mega travails of the last two years in the forum, but I always read what you are saying and think supportive thoughts of you and your family, which doesnā€™t help you much of course.

Thatā€™s very kind thank you, and it does help.

Anyway Mrs Mike has one more protein hormone treatment to go and is going fine apart from being very tired from the cumulative effects of all the medications. Next is the estrogen blockers, 5 to 10 yearsā€¦ we will see. But she is officially a survivor now and expected to enjoy a long and full life.

Miss Mike has had a dream transition into High School. We can reflect how well our family has done so that she is so confident and outgoing to take such a big step so well.

Iā€™m quite happy with breakfast cereal from the box. Cornflakes, Shreddies. That sort of thing or muisli sprinkled with frozen fruit if Iā€™m feeling virtuous.
However my wife has to have porridge. Not the stuff you just shove in the microwave but where you have to measure the oats, measure the milk, bring to the boil and then simmer stirring frantically for three and half minutes.
Must find a song that lasts exactly that.

My step dad refused to eat porridge after having it everyday as a child. But we have it regularly in winter, always with brown sugar, sadly without the creamā€¦

I had a disabled child Mike and what you are describing is an outcome that depends on excellent parenting. Iā€™m very happy for her.
