Agreed… I hope you’re really enjoying your new product(s) @David ![]()
Does the new classic 250 contain the same DR modules as the 250DR?
Slovakia - used to be part of Czechoslovakia…
Slovenia - used to be part of Yugoslavia…
Not The Same.

I am still confused by the reference to Slovenia. It is not Slovakia, it has not been announced as a producer of Naim kit. It also is not a low wage economy. Average monthly wage on a par with the UK ( as Slovakia is) at 2244 Euro.
Why the constant reference to Slovenia?
a bit like Ireland and Iceland. One is an island near England, the other sells frozen stuff.
Because some people aren’t paying attention!
Not a great example of low carbon footprint manufacture and build with two journeys to the build plant and back, and even a third trip to a buyer in the EU after testing in Salisbury!
Both were part of the great Austrian empire. It’s all Gavrillo Principes fault …
Interesting Richard that parts are shipped over to be assembled and then product shipped back.
I wonder how this stacks up with businesses trying to reduce their carbon footprint?
And yes, I get it that this is done by many companies, but that is not a valid reason to follow the process!!
Maybe Naim should detail their green credentials and how they offset the practice?
Fun fact (perhaps!?), according to a documentary on the Porsche plant there, it single-handedly represents >30% (may even be 40%) of the country’s GDP - and, IIRC, the Cayenne is Porsche’s highest-margin mainstream product.
Of course, it borders Ukraine + others.
“Average monthly wage on a par with the UK ( as Slovakia is) at 2244 Euro.”
I don’t know who came with this figure, but it is totally wrong (and irrelevant). Quick Google search will tell you that the average monthly wage is around 1000 Euro. I am from Croatia and we are more or less on the same level of wages.
Response to those interested in the ‘screws’, the two alongside the text ‘200 series’ are flush to the unit, where as the one screw by the word ‘preamplifier’ is slightly raised. No evidence of the screws been damaged.
Interesting that the NSC 222 is stated to sound different to previous classic series. Presume this is mainly the preamp, given the streaming board and DAC being used are Naim staples. Presume that future separate preamps will change the sound in a similar way?
The raised screws are due to the washers underneath.
What’s Slovenia got to do with it?
My perception from reading all the dem reviews/reports and the brief around the 222 (what with the improved volume control) is:
1- CB/Olive series kit (when 52 was best pre) were fast, enthusiastic and often visceral with NACA5. There was little separation at times, the sonics were mid-band focused, so a lot of smaller-level detail was left out.
2- with the 300 amp (even pre-DR), and also the 552/500 kit, the detailing, separation et al started to be allowed through – and SL cabling allows more detail than NACA5. Has some ‘speed’ been lost – perhaps, but probably due to more overall detail taking one’s ear away from this?
3- the new kit, with Statement/DR learnings, seems to allow more detail through – which I would expect, as technology has advanced alongside the technical learnings. Arguably, the legacy NAP250 could always do with more grunt and load tolerance.
The more interesting question perhaps from all this is whether Naim will produce a higher-level integrated streamer/pre-amp (300 series?) or simply an integrated amp which might deliver somewhere towards current 552/500 performance?
