The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

Indeed it is unreal that people could have such trouble differentiating 2 different European countries that start with the same 2 letters.

I’m wondering at this stage if it’s wilful.

You are being unfair!

They start with the same 4 letters and end in the same two.

I always get confused between UK and UKraine
Especially with all the rain we get in the UK

… however were both a part of the same empire (Austro-Hungarian Empire) until 1918 so not totally unconnected.

Not wishing to be a “party pooper”, but hasn’t this whole Slovenia/Slovakia debate polluted this thread enough now…

Right ! Maybe someone start a new thread “Slovenia vs Slovakia” in the Lounge section :slightly_smiling_face:

average salary slovakia 2021 = 1211 € (official Eu statistics)
only IT and financial experts touch 2100 € (capital based)

Bugatti was bought by Rimac, Croatia based with substantial financial support of Porsche. So strong hold by the whole Volkswagen company, which already counted Bugatti in his structure.

a fully supported foriegn investment policy by Slovakian government. In 2017 nearly 60% of GDP was composed by direct foreign investment. Also presence of a high and fully developped industry with special attion for pharmaceuticals, machinery and…electronics !

This is a very important topic for me.

Side by side comparison don’t work well at all. They confuse you especially if you’re listening in a new environment. As you quite rightly put it audio memory isn’t great- unless you’ve listened to it for a longer period of time. Think of the voice of a family member. You’re intimately familiar with the sound of the voice yet to a stranger doing a/b comparison of a two peoples voices they aren’t familiar with is more difficult.

The only way to truly understand what is different about two pieces of gear is to demo them for a period of time and listen as much as you can. Your ear-brain will adjust to the sound and register its signature in your memory. Then when something is swapped out for another you’ll be able to identify the different nuances because the signature your ear-brain is accustomed to has suddenly changed.

This is why I do not agree with A/B/X comparisons at all. I’ve done both with probably about 100 pieces of equipment and my results have always proved this point for me.

products from CANOR and JJ ELECTRONICS (both Slovakia)
other brands TRAFOMATIC AUDIO, XAVIAN ELECTRONICS, PYLON AUDIO, DAYENS, ACOUSTIC PREFERENCE.

And still a lot of other brands to mention. A large historical tube based experience.

Wherever it’s assembled it’s got a screw loose :flushed: That would totally mess with my OCD. ATB Peter

Looks like different screw fittings for different purposes.
There are deliberate differences I don’t think it’s a mistake.

Are you sure? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Agree with @Skeptikal . See a picture of mine. Screw is not loose. I assume it is not a mistake.

It looks as though the two flat head screws that sit slightly proud actually have serrated washers behind them - I assume for case earthing purposes - so not “loose” at all…

I reckon that’s right. Another possibility is that the screws that have a nut on the other end will have a washer under that nut. But if the screw goes into a tapped hole then it might be necessary to put a washer under the head of the screw because you can’t put it at the other end of the screw.

Hi @Richard.Dane ,

That’s right. The Torx screws that protrude a little are the ones with a conical star washer. The washer bites through the anodising on the rear panel and earths it.

Here’s a photo of the other side. My pencil points to the corresponding earth post.
