The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

UK dealer Signals have done a rather handy cable compatibility chart on their website.

Blimey, that’s nearly an armful!

Curious now how the NVS phono / 300 px will compare vs Superline / Supercap.

I understand earlier that both burndys can be used. Not ?

Both sockets are used.

You mean one need two burndy between new ps and 222? One type 3 and one type 4? That sounds strange. I would have guess you use the burndy each gen requires to overlap compatibility. Confused.

Can both outputs from a 555PS be used to power the digital and analogue stages in the 222?

Sorry, no.
To use a 555PS on the NSC 222 a legacy lead is needed.

It’s one Burndy cable, but with a single connector head at the legacy end and a double head (one big one small) at the New Classic end.

That confusing, the legacy lead being the one you already have with the 555PS, or the single to double headed thing?

The burndy used between a 555PS and 272 can be used with the type 4 Burndy between a 555ps and 222?

Holy… :see_no_evil:

So the line up will be:

Nait XS3 (or Nait 5si) / ND5XS2
Supernait 3 / NDX2
NSC 222 / NAP 250 (new)
NSC 322 / NAP 300 (possibly)

Various of the above upgradeable via the NPX 300.

At 500 and Statement level, no change, for now.

Looking at the cable descriptions

For XPS:
00-010-0241 to both 222 sockets
1 burndy, double headed

For 555:
00-010-0242 to type 4
00-010-0243 to type 3
So using both 555 outputs via 2 burndy to 222

?

The double headed snake :flushed:

Hard to know if you are being serious but that comment would largely depend on if you could get 100% back on all yer old boxes no?

The NSC 222 has two Burndy sockets for connection to the optional NPX 300 PSU.

The big socket powers digital circuits and includes bi-directional comms
The smaller socket powers the analogues circuits
Separation of the two power domains is great for sound quality compared to one really big socket.

If no NPX 300 is being used both Burndy blanking plugs are needed…and mains power

When the NPX 300 is connected mains only goes to the NPX 300

I think the key to it all would be if anything in the 222 dac section that would be better than the NDX 2 dac, hence perhaps contributing to better sound ?

Can’t see anything in that at all
