The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

Yes, the Fraim rear leg prevents using Super Lumina with NAP250.3 on a lower shelf. We brought this to Naim’s attention when we first received our New Classics.
If you look at the show set-ups they always have two stacks with the 250.3 on top of the right stack so we suppose that is the solution on Fraim. There is no rear leg in the way for the top shelf.

Some member of this forum have turned their Fraim around, so that the “rear leg” is at the front, thus avoiding this known issue.

Hmmm. Form over function….

Yup, that’s what I think of my spending on the current system too, a 3 Series Bimmer.

But I’d come to think that this way, I don’t have to pay for painful amount of annual car registration (it’s bloody expensive where I live), no need to pay for regular service, oil change, filters, fuel, and doesn’t contribute to fossil fuel based emission :crazy_face:

I’m thinking the 300 series will be at least a 4 box setup most likely 5 or 6. Based on the new 200 stuff I think each will almost cost 18-20k (Aus dollars) and that’s without any cable upgrades. Our trade ins have bottomed maybe 25k all up that’s around a 75k plus to upgrade, definitely out of my league.

Of course this conjecture until everything’s released and pricing is revealed.

Maybe distributor might wake up :flushed:

I guess so, around that much!

I’ll probably “take a dip” with replacing my NDX2 with the new upcoming 300 Streamer, if and only if, every one says the new one is miles better than NDX2 (both without PSU).

Yes and I might be Prime Minister

How can “everybody” say the new steamer is better if no one’s listened to it. Odd.

I guess I should change the word “if” into “after” :grin:

I guess we will know soon enough, but I rather suspect the new streamer is primarily to match the new classic series stying and won’t be knocking at the door of the classic series so much. I could be completely wrong of course.

Mike think you’re probably right, the current streamers are pretty much class leading so I’m not sure where you go from here.

Or form forgot function…

But then it’s loads of cables with similar and normal cable design that cannot be used with 250.3 in a fraim?

Interesting to see the hot debate whether the new NSC222(or +NPX300) is better over ND5X2+NAC282/252, and as of right now, I personally have not decided which one seems to be the winner.

So if there’re the same hot debate between NDX2 vs New Classic 300 Streamer, I’ll probably wait until there’s a clear and sure winner :grin:

@Mike_S

Well no new streamer for me that’s for sure - you two blokes just talked me into the NDX2 so that’s good enough for me

I think that as they are releasing new pre-amps then they simply need to have a matching streamer in the styling of the 250.3. Can’t really do anything else sensibly.

Hoping that you’re enjoying it :sunglasses:

Ha ha :crazy_face::crazy_face:

Yep it’s good thanks Mike

Using it with XPS2/SN3/HICAPDR

Probably get more out of it with my 252/SCDR/250DR

But pleased where it is - too much music choice out there and eating into my pub time ha :grinning:
