350DR…. Tell us more, does it have a mute button
Oops typo must go change thanks for pick up
Well, that’s certainly a own goal by naim then.
I did think when i saw a rear shot of the 250.3 that it looked close, but I did think, no surely not.
It is a problem there’s so much music that you’re already familiar with and favourites you’ll always want to hear. Finding time you catch up on someone you’ve overlooked is difficult you’ve only got so much time to listen.
And only less time to live ha ha
Probably better to not get involved with pro rock stick with 2-3 minute pop.
If it’s not 10 minutes or more it’s not a proper song
You’re much younger and got so much more time.
Yeah he’s just a boy that kiwi Mike
A mere lad. Damn those youngsters.
Well I’m about to hit the 73 mark so you’re a young pup also !!!
Better get back on topic methinks
Wow, that’s the age of my dads much elder brother.
73 is one of the most special numbers by the way. It’s worth googling it.
Thanks just did Ardbeg10
I feel like I’m all of those things ha
If you’ve ever watched the Big Bang theory series, you’ll have noticed that it’s Sheldon’s Favourite number.
Hi @nicnaim,
The new 250 will generally use a touch more power than the 250DR, depending how loud it it playing and how long the listening is (assuming standby is not used)
Maybe your saving is due to summer time and less lights and indoor activity?
Go deeper:
Both amps are class AB running with full regulated DR PSUs. Therefore the efficiency is identical however the new 250 is more powerful.
The new 250 being 25% more powerful, playing music 24 hours at their respective max volume levels the new 250 would use close to 25% more power. Just the static losses effect this (and standby mode).
When the amps are quiet (on, but not playing) the power consumption is very close. Most of the losses in this scenario are due to the magnetising losses in the toroidal power transformer. The new 250 and 250DR use the same iron core (new copper windings).
Depending upon listening habits I’d estimate the new 250 costs circa £10 a year more to run (standby not used). Using the standby feature the new 250 will could cost £50 a year less.
Best
Steve
and you win the prize for guessing the forthcoming announcement of new kit - it must surely be the new classic fraim
Thank you, that’s helpful and fascinating, as are all your posts - very much appreciate you taking the time to field questions.
I recently got an NPX300 for my NDX2. They play really well together. But I like the design of the “old” Classik series better. I think new one looks a bit “plastic”.
Did you compare the NPX300 with either XPSDR or 555DR?
