Perfect,thank you.
Of course. But some people apparently claim otherwise, not me
Iāve seen bolder. Iād say itās pretty bold that they left the digital output off of the NSC222 even though it has the exact same digital and streaming boards. Itās there and they clearly made a decision to not include it.
It may sound better. It will most likely be a case of those who buy it claiming it does and those who look for value claiming it doesnāt. I doubt it will be dramatic in any case. We can all agree on that. I also donāt see anyone discussing technical measurements as you state. Itās more a discussion on common sense and value for money. The 1792 chip is 2.5x the price of the 1791 for a reason. They put the 1792 in the NDX2 for a reason. The 1704k is in the ND555 for a reason.
As Steve stated earlier, he chose the 1791 here for a reason - the way itās used here, it sounded better than the 1792.
I think a discussion about the product that isnāt absolute 100% glowing shouldnāt be met with āyou donāt have to buy itā. Clearly, that goes without saying. A bit of lack of bias and inclusion of common sense should always exist.
If you have olive boxes the 135s canāt be beat, they will amplify all the good stuff you get from olives. And that is no small thing, olives are still very much alive.
Ooooooh I hope so. SuperUniti in office might be getting split into separates and 250DR is an option (oops we just sold one), but so is a nice pair of 135sā¦
Disagree. The NC250 is brilliant with the 252 so the NC350 should be amazing as the NC250 is more fun than a 300DR. The 300DR only betters it at low volume.
I havenāt checked the data sheets of those two chips. But one reason would be if the Naim guys have more freedom to customize with a 1791 (and since they customize just dont need the extras like better filters stuffed into a 1792.). Personally I dont doubt they have very good reasons. Judge by the final product.
Havenāt read the data sheets or feature sets either, but my uninformed recollection from ND5XS2 via NDX2 days was 1792 had a better S/N ratio
I would not buy a Naim product again so have no allegiance arguably a negative bias if anything but before passing judgement on some gear Iād want to listen to it sorry if that has offended you.
50 years established, trading and well capitalised balance sheet speak more highly of their strategic capabilities than not including a digital out on a combined pre-amp and streamer.
Welcome to forum btw.
Iām not interested in a new streamer , the ndx2 ticks the box for me
The SQ comparison for me vs my current gear is
252/SCDR/250DR
vs new classic
NAC332/300PS/NAP250
Forgetting price for the moment
Youāre thinking what Iām thinking
I have to channel Steve Jobs hereā¦
While at the helm of Apple, Jobs insisted that every element of the Macintosh computer be beautiful, down to the circuit boards inside. āLook at the memory chips. Thatās ugly. The lines are too close together,ā Jobs said of the circuits in Walter Isaacsonās biography.
Comparing these pics of the NSS 333 versus the NDX2 I see design regression, laziness. Sorry, I am not drinking the Kool-Aid and that might be because I canāt afford it. What I am seeing here is an overall cheapening of these products, combined with price increases, all being sustained by those who refuse to question the brandās direction out of some sense of fealty. By the time you audition and/or purchase, your brain has pulled the wool over your eyes, convinced there must be improvement and/or to validate the purchase decision.
I am not buying it.
What is your take on the 222 etc v your previous ndx2 etc, soundwise? Was it a bare ndx2 and 250dr? Really interested to hear your thoughts.
Shhhā¦ Lets convince everyone they are rubbish, so we can buy them upā¦
Good question. Canāt find it via search there are simply too many threads hitting keywords
If you search youāll find plenty similar threads
(EDIT I did eventually stumble across this)
Yes, exactly, and common sense in this case is probably that Richard and Naimās head of development knows more about this than you doā¦
Steve did say that the pictures were off the bench, showing the development unit that had been used to try things out, and that the finished article would be to the usual fastidious standards.
