Is there still a protective plastic on the Naim logo ? Or it’s the effect of the picture?
It’s brand new, from the box to the photo was about 10 minutes, it’s removable, it will be.
Congratulations on your new nap 250-3, have you tried with SN3? As I’m also planning to get one
.
We parted company today, along with the NDX2, so never got that opportunity, as I had my Katalyst DSM and only needed to add a Stereo Line Out Cartridge to the DSM it was an easy swop over, eventually I’ll get either a NSC 222 or perhaps a NAC 332 eventually, the NAP250 sets the foundations now for those future evolutions.
No regrets so far!
@BackToNaim we have similar setups. I’m also curious as to the upgrade path for my SN3. Most would probably say the pre first but a 250.3 is just so tempting.
Had I not had a half decent pre/streamer “spare” in the DSM I’d have found it harder to make a choice on a first move.
I nearly got a NSC 222 and a NAP 250 DR that was a few years old, overall it made more sense to invest in the DSM and the 200 Series NAP 250
is equality flexible to mix into multiple setups.
I would now be seriously tempted to go the NAC 332 route whereas starting off with a NSC 222 would make that less likely to happen.
All great options and both in terms of what I’d heard before today and now the kit at home It’s a great change and looking forward to it settling down, I’ve got a new LP12 to add to it soon as a +
I need to stay away from this forum as I feel upgradeitis is coming on strong. Lol
Now that’s a case of when not if of course ![]()

I thought I was cured!! Guess I need another booster lol
I’m actually tempted now to get an Organik DAC for the DSM, the pairing actually works rather well.
Enjoy! It’s a fantastic amp.
I have a proven cure for these symptoms -

Is the streamer used by you as a preamplifier?
Totally correct.
Being fanatical and curious engineers/audiophiles we wanted to break the 140W power ceiling. Statement gave us the opportunity. Going back to first principles says ‘use bigger transistors’, however there are none suitable for audio; could we make one?
We worked with our transistor manufacturer to find a solution. The result was to use adjacent die (die are the individual transistor on a silicon wafer) and make a single large composite transistor. Being adjacent die the two transistors have near identical characteristics and in parallel essentially work as one larger transistor.
(Below shows a wafer and an NA009 for a sense of scale. NB: this is not the NA009 wafer but the first I could get my hands on this morning and is representative, the squares are the die)
Fast forward through development and the final result was to split these into separate packages for practical reasons and allowed the use of a non-ferrous. transistor legs.
They were serial numbered so the ‘single large’ transistors could be reconstructed at the Naim factory. The NA009 was born.

Yes, I converted it from its previous configuration as an integrated to a pre out using the Stereo Line Out Cartridge. Both the cartridges (slots for 3) and their DAC’s are modular.
Very interesting I wonder are these only used in the Statement Series or is there any trickle down.?
Thanks.
NA009s?
They have also been used in the NAP250DR, 300DR, and 500DR and also used in the New Classic NAP250 and NAP350.
Thanks. And how does it sound relative to another Naim pre?
Hi Steve how do you rank it in sq with and without Npx compared to the 252?
Thanks a lot
Pietro
Not something I’ve done any extensive comparisons on. What it replaces is a Supernait 3 + NDX2. It’s very early days (not even 24hrs on the clock) but immediately it sounds more in control and with more defined seperation between musical elements, the bass is leaner but preferable in that it feels more cohesive.
Another gain is the ability to listen at very low volume levels and it still be a complete sound, something the SN3 struggled to do as you reduced the volume below normal listening levels.
The intention is to use this configuration for the time being and then decide on an NSC or NAC route down the line. I certainly don’t feel myself regretting letting the SN3 + NDX2 go, even at this early stage.
I even have additional refinements I can make to the Selekt DSM, namely, a Utopik PSU (internal replacement) and swopping in an Organik DAC (Stereo and Dual Mono options available), most of those can be had for quite a bit less than a NSC as a bonus.
