Especially when frequenting this forum…
A lot of people on this Forum, like me have done upgrades one bit at a time, rather than a full new system. So I suspect a lot will be interested to know if a NAC332 without power supply beats a NAC82/282 with a supercap or 2 HiCaps, thereby reducing box count and improving SQ. Then also does it beat a NAC52/252 with or without the NPX300
It will perform how its priced i would think mate. 332 with npx would be in the middle of a 252 and 552 i recon, be interesting to see (hear)
The New Classic NAP 250 is superior and has the NAP 300 DR covered for gaming, movies and music.
Yes we know your opinion but I spoke to four other dealers recently.
So far 20% say definitely superior.
80% say close/at/edging it. All 4 of these say different.
@Damien0 I thought 332 + NPX was a smidge less than 252 + SuperCap, based on recent price lists? Could be region-dependent, of course.
It’s ultimately about unlocking and realising the potential which lies within the New Classic NAP 250.
its around a 14k combo here in the uk, makes you wonder what the same pre would be like with a 555ps dr, be better again i would have thought
I’d gamble those dealers know how to do that, but probably don’t feel the need to post on this forum.
It’s only an opinion, the best way to challenge someone else’s is to form your own, which in most cases is the most important of all anyway. Regardless of what anyone else says, it has to suit your own ears and wallet.
In many cases there are members on this forum that are significantly invested in a higher end Naim system, probably costing a lot, and built over a long period of time.
Anyone coming along and diminishing the credibility of that investment gets shot down in a barage of comments, but here we are with a new series of products and inevitable improvements and refinements made over previous generations, whether those differences are enough for an indvividual to invest themselves is always personal choice, either are amazing systems, old and new and anyone owning one could consider themselves lucky from the off.
What we’re at the beginning of now is a long lifecycle on this series, and with more refreshed products to come (perhaps), the Classic series ran for many years without any major dramas after all, and refinements on the way, like DR Regulators.
I certainly have nothing but praise to lavish on the 200 Series NAP 250 I own and expect it to form the hub of my system for some time to come.
I’m content with the level of performance from the New Classic NAP 250 hence from the word go I’ve been able to say with confidence that the New Classic NAP 250 has the excellent NAP 300 DR covered for gaming, movies and music.
I didn’t disagree with you, all I stated, if you read again please, is that I was sure the other dealers know how to “unlock the potential” out of the nc 250
How are you
What are you recommending to customers?
Are you swapping out the 222 for something else?
Are you recommending non naim pre?
Are you recommending non naim cabling?
Powerline?
Specific speaker impedances or sensitivities?
Im wondering how i can unlock my nap300 dr to sound better than a 500dr…using the same logic
@IainO been running mine for 6 months and it’s absolutely brilliant with the 252DR. It’s so fast and nimble.
It’s more akin to a baby 500DR than a 300DR with it’s speed and tonality. The 300DR is thicker and darker if that makes sense.
So I can see where preference may push one ahead of the other.
Forgive the question, but what does ‘covered’ mean in this instance? The NC250 is equal to, better/surpassing the 300DR?
I could give a lark’s tongue for gaming or movies soundwise - I’m pretty much music only; but why the particular inclusion of all three? Are there distinct amplification needs in each category that the NC250 covers, but the 300DR doesn’t?
Genuine question , not seeking to defend one or the other - and I’ve only heard one, lol.
But always written as though it’s fact, i.e. the “NAP 250 is superior” - it’s meaningless tosh.
It’s all just opinion here.
With the 500 I have never had one at home. It has only been listening/comparisons at the dealership as I can’t afford one.
To me the 500DR, has a different sound signature, dynamics and speed compared to the 300DR.
My point was the sound signature, dynamics and speed of the NC250 is more similar (this is no way saying it’s as good) to the 500DR than the 300DR.
So people comparing a 300 vs NC250 may prefer one sound signature over the other which will obviously have them conclude one is better than the other.
