I received my Naim 50 on yesterday, planning to compare with my Supernait 3. But the 50 is so addictive and engaging to listen to that I have not gone back to the SN3. It seems to be a great combo with NDX2.

It gets better as it settles. Going back was interesting, it took me five or six weeks to unplug and compare.

I have my N50 on my Fraim just like that, with my DAVE on the middle shelf, with my NDX2 renderer on the bottomā¦ I think it works well.
Have you tried DNM interconnects between the DAVE and the N50.. they are ridiculously good and wonderfully transparent and naturalā¦ in my opinion.

I got my N50 last week, really impressed with it. Iām only using it as a headphone amp and it is very capable in that role

Yes, indeed, I use the HFTN versionsā¦ these are designed to mitigate any RF from digitally clocked products into sensitive audio amplifiers.
Their website is a little unclear if you are interested, it might be best to phone.
Hope you donāt mind me asking, are the dnm din plugs wired the same as a naim din plug?
Yes I believe so, however I speak to them and tell them what I am wanting to connect between so there is never any doubt.

I gave dnm a call this morning asking about using their interconnects with naim. Interestingly, they suggested just using the standard cables not the HFTN version. @Simon-in-Suffolk did you ever try the standard cables?
Yes I did, I prefer the HFTN versions when connecting digital sourcesā¦
You will need to decide for yourself, but it is sometimes not hugely subtle on the N50 in my opinion with it being such a revealing and nuanced amp with high end sources such as DAVE.
Also it was Denis himself who suggested I should look at this area many years ago.. and that started my journey into the effects of very low level RF currents on audio amplifiers.
But yes try the cables standard, you can always have them upgradedā¦ itās not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.

I seem to remember there being a few Pioneer A400ās run like that back in the day with an elastic band between the two volume knobs to keep the sound equal on each channel.
That could very well be! I have heard of it being done on some other amplifiers, notably, the Crofts that had twin L/R volume controls, not remote controlled however.
Iām genuinely surprised by how well the Naim 50 is driving my Dynaudio Special 40 speakers, which are known to be quite demanding in terms of current. I wasnāt expecting much initially, but everything is coming together beautifullyāI couldnāt be happier with the results. My Supernait 3 will be going up for sale now. The NDX2 also sounds fantastic, though Iām definitely curious about how much of an improvement the 333 might bring.

Well the N50 is not short of current (+/- 15 Amps) , itās the output voltage where the limitation lies with the smaller power supply. I auditioned the N50 with the Special 40s (amongst other larger speakers) at my dealerās shop, and very good it was, although the S40s werenāt really my cup of tea.
We also understand the N50 indeed uses high current driver transistors.
I do wonder if this is behind the relatively high N50 peak power drive of around 220 W into low impedances.
I do find when the N50 has been working hard, which it does with great finesse and composure, it can get rather warmā¦ I believe the case is the main heat sink for the output drivers.

Interesting, who would have expected this scenario back then by release of Nait 50. Even higher separates gets a good competion in this little amp.
In smaller rooms the little Nait 50 is excellent, those Special 40 might struggle in larger rooms as other loudspeakers would.
Room size and SPL is important and often a hidden information.

Yes the layout size of the room is very important, I live in a new apartment but I am able to give the Dynās some room behind them which they like.
Nait50 is also driving my Kudos 606s really well - love the sound they make together.
