Will do. Not thought of that.

It was an good upgrade with my Nac 82.
4-5 pin Din from Supercap to Nait 50.
Volume on the Nait 50 about 10 :alarm_clock:

Was just going to ask ā€œ using the 5-4 ?ā€

It hadn’t even occurred to me that 252 into N50 was possible!

Done. The 5-4 is a crappy grey naim one, but it works, and I think the sub bass roll off is back. Along with the remote and TT…..

Unfortunately Mrs TGR has informed me we need to go out and select carpet colour and wall paint for our lounge this afternoon…..

Coming back on my new ND5XS2

After a few days to run in the device and my ears, it’s flawless.

Of course, a little more details or presence would be welcome, but that would certainly require a higher-end model. The Atom I had for a while is completely blown away by the NT50/ND5 duo, especially the much smoother sound, and the streamer really lets the punch and speed of this little amp shine. The Atom was far too limited in comparison.

I tried a Node Icon, and there’s no comparison.

As I’ve already mentioned, the whole system is cohesive and gives me satisfaction. There’s always something better, but this is a pleasure.

The build quality is perfect, everything works, AirPlay for TV on Apple TV, the app which I personally find simpler and easier to use than Bluos, and I don’t miss the screen at all. I’ve hidden the streamer in the cabinet connected via Wi-Fi, which solves the storage problem.

We’ll see if it all improves over time. Phil

Great ! :+1: The Lavender grey is a very good and musical cable,I think.
Will sound even better when you are back and the 252 has warmed up a little :ok_hand:

So I went from Atom to Atom+Nait 50 to ND5XS2+Nait 50. Whilst I agree it’s a step up in performance I certainly didn’t find it to be as big a lift as you did. I guess this just shows how subjective this hobby is.

And certainly it depends of the speakers.

@Jubeph Give it time. I bought one from TT, Audio, cheers guys, I went to pick it up then installed and listened for a few day and was very pleased. However, i was asked to make a short notice business trip for about 6 weeks, having asked the family to just keep using it as much as possible. On return the difference was brilliant, smooth, detailed and full of boogie.

Just a shame its no longer available, I wish we could get to the bottom of this decision as it was such a sweet spot

It does.

My Atom was replaced by N50 fed by WiiM/Qutest and it really brought my little wall-mounted Neat Iotas to life. I wondered if that was largely because of the Qutest, but I’ve now got a CD5XS as additional input and that’s even more enjoyable, at least with certain albums. I hadn’t realised how much more those Iotas had to give when I just had the Atom.

Roger

PS I think your profile is out of date.

I just took delivery of a brand new Naim Nait 50 today and presently letting it warm up. Owning a NAIT 2 and having formerly owned a NAIT 1, I have to say that the NN50 is superior in build quality. It’s been a few hours since I turned it on and it continues to sound better and better. IMHO Naim has maintained the company’s house sound with the N50, but also improved its overall sonics noticeably.

The NN50 was triple boxed in order to protect its actual NAIM packing box. I’m not sure if I can list the dealer that I purchased my NN50 from, but purchasing from them was a pleasure from beginning to end, and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. I’m presently running the NN50 with an original pair of Linn Kans and like how nicely they sound together. My first experience with this combination was in the mid 1980’s when a local dealer set up a Linn LP12 and ran it through a NAIT 1 into a pair of Linn Kan 1’s. The album was a bongo solo and I truly felt like the musician was right in the room with me. I have been a Naim enthusiast ever since. :+1:

Update: This is my second day with the Naim NN50. I’ve been running it with a vintage Naim CDi compact disc player into the Linn Kan 1’s. Presently listening to John Mclaughlin, Paco D’ Rivera and Al Dimeolas’ Friday Night In San Francisco. The sound is sublime!

No actually, I have many pristine examples here having supplied more than a dozen KR3s in the last couple of months BTW. Oh I’m back in the UK again now

On a bit of a tangent from the main subject, I wish Naim would consider selling those lovely CNC’d volume/selector knobs as used in the NN50 as upgrades for some of the older gear. I’d love a set of 3 for my Nac 12N! (well….. worth a try! ).

I accidentally left my N50 fully on out of standby for the weekend. Would always put it in standby usually. Curious I had a good listen and it sounded exactly the same as a good 20 min out of standby warm up. To my ears anyway.

I think it sounds better without standby
