The new NAIT 50 Limited Edition

To be fair, I reckon the NAIT 50 deserves as good a CD player as you can muster, or at least one that is highly musically characterful like the original Naim CD players of old.

Hi, the Rega Apollo was discontinued a few months ago, a quick trawl shows there are some about .

These are two half box CD players that are still in production, both (I think) come with a digital out as well as analogue and are priced about the same as a Naim CD5si

Never heard Exposure gear, but Leema makes very good DACs, so this would also be a possibilty

I am next in line from my local audio T dealer . The first has already arrived and been distributed .

My set up ( currently ) is Nova, CDX2 (digital output only) and a UnitiQute 2 and a Clearaudio TT with Harbeth P3SR.

The UnitiQute 2 is used as a DAC for the TV and BluRay player , I am beginning to see it as a little gem .

The UQ2 feeds the Nova via a Chord ( Think Cobra) RCA to RCA and has a Chord Power Cord.

I have decided not to use streaming -other than for Internet Radio (Radio 3 HD being an absolute star)

Anyway like others I suspect that there has been a flurry of getting connectors with DIN , and instead of a 4 metre Chord Shawline RCA to DIN , I will be the recipient of a new Chord Shawline X (which is a new Shawline)

My idea is to retire (but not sell) my CDX2 and at some point , the CDX2 and UQ come together to form a small but quality system

The Nait 50 to be served by a CD5si , part of my overall plan to downsize the system whilst keeping quality as high as possible .

I suspect a few are considering this…

I mentioned previously about adding a Marantz sacd 30n to the 50.

Not shoebox but presumably quite decent cd, sacd, streaming in a single box at least…

I figure I’ll try one out.

Anyone any experience of these in the meantime?

The transport only version of this was posted before, but the Heed Thesis Delta comes with a DAC and would be plug and go. I’ve found the Heed gear to be a very good match with Naim. Would look quite nice I reckon with a NAIT 50.

I believe the DA is sold as a separate board (DAC 2.3) which need to be mounted in the transport as a dealer only installation. A friend of mine has it and loves it. I’ve had a couple of Heed phono stages. Great value for the money.

Leema and Technics do similar , though the Marantz and Technics are both SACD - a reflection of their Japanese origins

Hello,
What’s the name of the speakers ?

Really? The new X is that good? How does it compare to the Node + Qutest?

Thanks Robert.

The Juniors are fairly hard to get hold of but I managed to get some new old stock from my Naim dealer Tom Tom Audio.

Never heard the gurus myself but always heard positive things about them.

My second pair. I bought a pair when they first came out after their debut at the Bristol Show (2013 I think) and rave reviews. Production issues made the Juniors hard to get hold of and interest moved on as it does. In between I have had Spendor S3/5R2s, ProAc Tab 10s and Spendor 4/5s ( the latter being the best of the 3). But I missed the way the Juniors communicated the music to me. A chance thread on a different forum and I secured a new pair. Happy days.

Night and day difference. I wasn’t happy with the Node by itself and the Qutest was a significant step up. The difference between the Node/Qutest and the Node X was immediately noticeable with the latter providing a much improved listening experience…the musicality, the detail, the sound stage, the openness.

Interesting. Do you find the Node X to be warmer as well?

I don’t think I would describe it as warmer. It was as how my original Naim dealer in the 90s described the upgrades in a Naim System…it’s as if layers are being lifted off what you’re hearing, not boxed in.

Cool! I got the same pairing as you did,and I find it too thin, bright, and revealing with old recordings.

I’ll look into the Node X. Thanks Taylormade!
