And I would say even in Belgium I got both in the Nait50 and Nap 200DR package
I prefer to use Powerline Lite due to fuse included and copper connections
It sounds like the NN50 is the best amplifier in the whole world
Graham, when we got ours we thought we had been given the European lead by mistake but the two were very closely entwined and the UK lead was included.
It took fifty years to R&D something that makes everything else obsolete regardless of cost.
Super looking little amp though if only it had RCA inputs
I have the āwrongā two-pin mains lead on my desk, ready to call Audio T when they open.
There is definitely no other mains lead in the box.
(I have lots of spare Naim mains leads lying around, as I have a Hydra in my main system. But it would be good to have the Powerline, particularly as - as Skeptical points out - I have paid for it.)
A nice little musical piece of Nait50 with a good old one CDI in frontā¦
Triple Hourra for Naim
Thatās heresy to suggest anything other than DIN sockets on Naim equipment. Any further such talk will probably earn a lifetime ban from the Forum!
@anon70766008
Hahahahaha.
I used my ears and it was clearly obvious the RCA was well superior and no going though dodgy relays to clutter the connection.
I was all set to convert my whole system to din and when my amp and CDP arrived it came with a din lead so I tried both having already been using RCA and the difference was huge others have tried and found the same but most just go with the norm and use whatās suggested for convenience.
It was a free comparison and wouldnāt have cost me anything really to change.
Iām glad I tried and it worked.
Hope you get the mains lead then you have a complete package for the special edition itās a cracker.
Presumably if your cd player or streamer is non DIN, an RCA to DIN is ok too ?
Probably would work fine I just donāt like using adaptors and the Din is the bottleneck.
Din is used as a compromise multi pin connector for different uses itās a way of minimising wiring to aid a function of compromise.
The Naim philosophy of multi box connection couldnāt survive without it hence itās the ā best ā
Iāve had years in stage and some studio work experience in use.
Being told by a salesman and actual use are two different things.
Dins have a place as does RCA and XLR.
The biggest contact area for connectivity is RCA but in a rougher environment not so robust so XLR connectors or ā cannons ā are the preferred connector as are very heavy duty and equipment lockable.
It horses for courses so use the one you like according to your ears as we live in houses not stage setting or recording studios.
We used to do DIN vs. RCA listening tests all the time at Naim, particularly during the development and early production of the Hi-line interconnect. Thatās how Naim decided on the choice of the WBT Next Gen RCA and socket as the best of the RCA connectors. However, DIN still gave a better performance over even the best of the RCA phonos.
I hope youāll get to hear a NAIT 50 soon. Itāll be worth the time and effort Iāll go as far as saying that I believe the NAIT 50 is probably amongst the ten most musically performing amplifiers in production today. What an amp
NAIT 50 is a pocket rocket with soul.
Connecting one Chord Huei to Nait50 Din by the following cables : one 1 m chord Shawnline xlr > rca + one 1 m Chord reference rca> din both linked together Is this to be avoided ?
Are you saying you are using the two different interconnects linked together to make a 2m interconnect?
Iām sure it would be better to just have a 2m interconnect here.
Had a brief chat with my dealer this afternoon, initially about something else. Talk quickly turned to launch of this updated icon and how good it is. He sold one, sight unseen, from the off. And has one remaining in the stockroom!..
Apparently the switch on āclankā of the mechanical switch of the original has been replicated in the new one. Delightful if so! He also marvelled at the Nait 50ās speaker driving ability.
Iām sure too but is it possible to get one 2m interconnect xlr female > din 3 pin . I have never seen this kind of cable. Besides after comparing I notice the Chord reference used as second interconnect connected to Nait50 is a 3 pins din. However the other interconnect din>din used to link a streamer nd5xs is a 5 pins din
One very happy punter, straight out of the box (fed by my UQ with R3) very musical ,
Bought unheard, I didnāt really think Naim going to mess up with an anniversary themed product
Improved the connect with Chord Shawline X replacing Chord Cobra
And what, pray tell, are the other nine?
I moved the Nait 50 into the teenager room this evening its now driving SBLs MK2 with ND5XS2 as source, my god it sounds excellent, what an amp!
I think lots of people are simply rediscovering what means Naim
Other one never forgetā¦
