Thanks for the experience.

For Naim to design another shoebox integrated amplifier that surpasses the NAIT 1 and the NAIT 2 was no mean feat. The NAIT 50 is a very, very special amplifier.

Well so it should surpass those - itā€™s 40 years of R&D down the track

Iā€™ve got a pair of the Wharfedale 80th anniversary Dentons I could hook up which almost gets us to 200 years!

The first track played on my LP12 through the Nait 50 was Joe Jackson - Steppinā€™ Out and for the Rega Iā€™m thinking Steve Miller - Fly Like an Eagle.

Iā€™m trying to work out which is the oldest piece of vinyl I own, a mono copy of Bizetā€™s Carmen is probably it but Marlena Shaw - The Spice of Life could be more appropriate

Absolutely true, physical connection allows a finer degree of adjustment, only impressions perhaps, although very satifying. I still Remember the nice feeling without fiction of my old 42/72s. The new Nait with that 500ā€™s grade knob Will be a dream

Iā€™ve not heard one myself but if sounds as good as it looks then i feel sure it is a very special amplifier indeed. I think Naim have done a superb job here, a masterclass act. Bravo to Naim for celebrating their 50th in this way! :raised_hands:

Nait 50 has been running for couple of weeks now time for a bit of routine maintenance as per manual.

Powered off all kit.
Unplugged speaker cables from the Nait.
Turned back and forth the volume knob.
Reconnected cables etc
Quick dust with the Swiffer duster
Powered up

Nait 50 has no imbalance at low volume listening so I set DAVE to DAC mode -3dB line level from pre mode -12dB

Powered up, sounds lovely.

Donā€™t make those assumptions too lightly.

Naim may incorporate - and learn from - 40 yearsā€™ worth of R&D experience, other manufacturers may not!

Youā€™ve answered @Bevo assumption with assumption.

Itā€™s hard to believe that the kind of hi fi we generally refer to here donā€™t have their own R&D department, some may not like their results but it would be naive to think they donā€™t do their homework.

This looks very tempting! I have to stop reading this thread, it is not profitable for me.

It is an assumption and also untrue That every new generation of something becomes increasingly betterā€¦ ā€¦ R&D in a modern company is all about improving the cost/benefit and profitability of a given productā€¦40 years of R&D is not necessarily linear ā€¦ somethingā€™s have improved in terms of precision and what is possible in a modern productionā€¦ precisionā€¦automation ā€¦ā€¦ techā€¦.somethings have equally become extremely expensiveā€¦ materials manpowerā€¦. Etcā€¦

Gee lots of assumptions in there :crazy_face::crazy_face::crazy_face:

My NAIT 50 had a (European style) two pin mains pug in the box, but the manual appears to show a UK standard three pin plug. And I have read references to a Powerline Lite - which I certainly didnā€™t find in the box.

Is this a mistake? Have I received a unit intended for Europe?

Graham, you should contact your dealer and let them know. In the UK you should have a Powerline Lite included.

Just plugged my headphones in (B&W P7 - not OTT as I do little listening this way). Wow! No corners cut with the headphone amp either. Super job Naim.
