Greetings @sjw and thanks.
Love the pictures, fantastic, do keep on coming through the door, this thread could do with more contributors.

Nice coincidence that you mention Winston Reedy, his Dim The Light album is high on my list of all time favourites. An essential slice of UK reggae, I was just playing it on Saturday night, sweet memories! I like the way the album is split with side one on a Lovers Rock vibe with side 2 on more conscious themes.
I have heartfelt memories of a gig he played around this time in Brighton, one of those nights where the vibe was such that it is indelibly etched into my consciousness.
He then signed to UB40’s DEP label releasing the Crossover LP and a big hit with the song Baby Love.
I think hes still active and performing.

Thanks for posting

Just found this interview Winston Reedy did with Ray Hurford around 1983 for his Small Axe fanzine…

:grinning:

This is the album I wish I could buy…
I’ve got a download but wish I could get a real version!

Indeed! Nice call! On the Negus Roots label. It is easily available but only if your willing to pay unreasonably inflated asking prices for used CD or LP.
Another great artist who passed away far too young, just in his early twenties I think.

Dub Rockers Delight is an album of dubs to the Morning Glory LP

I have a copy of Tug A War Games 12" single in excellent condition, asking price in this listing north of 100 quid, outrageous!

Millie Small, singer of “My Boy Lollipop”, passed away yesterday.

A Ska legend, R.I.P. , Millie.

Pressure Sounds issued this a while back and its rewind and come again

The version or dub sides that are usually on the B sides of JA pressed 7"singles.
So we have here the dubs to many great Channel One productions like Dillingers CB200, Ragnampiza, Leroy Smarts Ballistic Affair, Mighty Diamonds Have Mercy etc etc
Every one a classic b side version

:sunglasses:

silly

No ones likely to pay that. Highest actual sold price on Discogs data is £131 for a first pressing

I resent that sort of exploitation… downloaded it off itunes store burnt a disc and popped on to the zen mini
Its a lovely album…

Yay Stevie, respect! Nice post!
Jimmy Lindsay is something of a quiet legend.
He was formerly with the group Cymande and in recent times fronts the Reggae band Fowokan along with other past members including drummer Sam Kelly who has a couple of other great bands including a blues band Sation House
I’ve seen and chatted with Fowokan and Station House many times over the last couple of years and always worth checking out.
Jimmy Lindsay has had quite a few hits on the Reggae scene including his cover of Easy in the mid seventies produced by Lloyd Coxone of Coxone Outernational Sound System (another legendary figure)
Fowokan are always touring keep your eye out, you wont be disappointed.

Ernest Ranglin has featured regularly through the thread. Including Below The Bassline and many others but it’s good to be reminded.Respect most definitely due still. On the subject of Ska he was of course the musical arranger for My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small who sadly passed away last week.
