Dedicating this to anyone feeling isolated and alone in these perilous times.
From Third Worlds current album More Work To Be Done

More glorious obscurities from Pressure Sounds.
Herman Chin Loy is a producer who hasn’t had the kind of exposure and recognition deserved. Some great music has been recorded with countless artists passing through the doors of his Aquarius Studio.
Herman Chin Loy has also been credited arguably as producing the first ever dub album Aquarius Dub before King Tubby, Bunny Lee and others laid claim.
Vinyl now sold out but download/streaming available.

Original pressings of Aquarius Dub are hard to find at anything approaching a sensible price. Re-issues of Aquarius Dub are available but they sound dubbed from
the original vinyl.

For some reason not currently available direct from Pressure Sounds but it’s still out there…

Continuing with the Herman Chin Loy connection.
This early Augustus Pablo outing recorded at Aquarius with Herman Chin Loy is worth seeking out.

Train spotters will recognise the track I Man an early version of the riddim that was later voiced by Jacob Miller as Baby I Love You So, the dub of which famously is King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown

Hi Dread
I’m sure you’ll know one of my all- time favourites -
Beware Dub by Yabby U And The Prophets?

I adore this album. I’ll dig it out later this evening and give it a whirl on headphones.

Following the lineage I would highly recommend the Greensleeves CD (its since been re packaged on vinyl)

Jacob Miller Who Say Jah No Dread
(The Classic Augustus Pablo Session’s)
Vocal and respective dub cuts by King Tubby every track a gem

Indeed! Killer track.
Did you know his nickname The Jesus Dread due to the fact he was a christian believer rather than Ras Tafari.

Again check Pressure Sounds for more Yabby U

Run it…!

If you love Yabby U, check out Michael Prophet he voiced many tunes over Yabby U riddims but wasnt always credited.
Love And Unity/Mash Down Rome was a big tune when Island put it out on a 12".
He made many nice albums/singles from the Roots era through the nascent Dancehall sound. A monster hit in that era was Gunman…

Yes, Michael Prophet rings a bell, somewhere in the cobwebby, musty corridors of my memories. I’ll cop a listen after I’ve cooked (well, reheated!) tea.
