Now I know where Meccano got the colour scheme from.

A Sopworth Pup, I understand originally this aeroplane was built in 1919 as a civilian two seat Sopwith Dove and was later converted to the original single seater Pup configuration around 1936 when Richard Shuttleworth acquired it into his collection. In 2004/5 it was painted in First World War naval colours with the 9917 designation.

Not vintage by any means, however a pair of RAF Phenoms looked quite pretty on the Northolt Apron last night.

Lol. It’s a lot easier when they’re not flying over my head at 350 knots!

Presumably chauffeuring HMG ‘VIP’s’ to and fro……. after all, they couldn’t possibly sit in SqueezyJet economy…….

ATB, J :joy:

Nope, they’re for training.

Multi engine pilots, aircrew and mission/tech. specialists.

I did chat with a couple of Envoy pilots (the patriotically themed jet in the background) a few months ago. They are used by Govt. officials at all levels but primarily for shifting forces personnel from one military meeting/site to another around the world. Both were ex fighter pilots and agreed that an Envoy pilot was best job in the RAF, once you hit a certain age.

A heap of Arrows shots from their last flying of the season. Battling Storm Amy, only they (in only an 8 ship formation) and a Coningsby Typhoon could properly cope!
