Happy Birthday Nigel
Happy
Birthday Nigel
Thanks. We are staying in a lovely National Trust cottage for a few days. We’ve done a long walk in the rain and Mrs HH is cooking dinner later; leeks and mushrooms with tagliatelle. We have half bottle of Nyetimber and a bottle of Puligny Montrachet, which should be fine. The cottage is down a dirt track so there is no way we are going out !!
We’ve had cake too.
Looks like a really pleasant retreat Nigel. Happy birthday.
Seems like you’ve had a very nice day. Many happy returns.
Cottage looks lovely. Happy birthday slightly belatedly.
I do miss our family trips to National Trust cottages - we’ve not had one for several years.
The cottage is lovely. It was built for the estate’s head gardener, so is right in the gardens, which are bursting into like with snowdrops and crocuses. We are only here because the tiny place we’d booked at the last minute at a bargain price became unavailable due to plumbing works, so they suggested this one, which would have been four times the price if we had paid the full price. So it’s a big bargain.
Oops, I missed this yesterday. I hope you had a fantastic day Nigel.
I’ve been eyeing on the nice big red one as well. ![]()
Parker Duofold Big Red Vintage. Finally they are making one with a cartridge.
Duofold was a lovely pen. Didn’t know they were still in production.

Stop it, I don’t need any encouragement. Lovely people to deal with. I could argue that it’s easier to buy pens and ink on a budget, definitely good pens for less than an LP, I use a fountain pen daily, but I have more than I can use!
Let me see your collection. ![]()
Yep. The designed and material changed overtime, but it’s still in production.
Snap, @catswhiskers
Daily user too. A good fountain pen is a joy to write with.
I stopped collecting as I couldn’t justify haven’t so many sitting in the cases looking gorgeous, but uninked. Need to do some serious cleaning, new sacs etc in the near future.
Me too. I sold some of them or keep losing some. ![]()
Thought I’d lost my Starwalker (one of my few ‘modern’ pens) a week ago…very relieved when I found it!
One of the joys of getting older in the UK is that the NHS either calls you in for screening tests or sends you a kit to do the test at home. Today, by chance, after receiving a bowel cancer screening kit yesterday, I did my bit and posted it off. Then I attended a lung health CT scan this afternoon.
I am now in that strange limbo that cancer patients and others, no doubt, experience, between the test and getting the results. I guess this is very much how Schrödinger’s cat experienced the time in the closed box.
I started a thread a long time ago, it shows some of mine.

Strangely, there are a couple of not so cheap ones clean and wrapped up in a safe place, but more often than not I find “pocket money” ones in daily use. I’m happy for @Richard.Dane to reopen it if you like.
A fitting “present”. Belated birthday greetings.
