“Well, it’s nice enough, but…”

Why you need 2 versions of the same music?

“It would be a waste of money for me. I don’t think my hearing is that good”

Often said by someone with no known hearing disability as if audiophiles have bat ears or something.

Followed closely by

“But it doesn’t really matter as long as you can hear the melody that’s enough to enjoy the music.”

All reasons to never discuss hifi with non audiophiles and an fact do everything in your power to not draw attention to yourself.

I was once asked by a friend “is it okay to put my wine glass on your speaker? do you have a coaster?” I said “you can put it on there if you’d like to go home in a body bag”. Grrrrrr…

Yes I was at a friend’s party where guests kept repeatedly putting glasses of wine on his Isobariks. Which if you know Briks, poses significantly more risk.

He just perched near them moving wine glasses off repeatedly.

I’d be throwing the guests out repeatedly.

“My new Nova sounds as good as my main system.”

Have you got nothing to do when you retire?

“You’re one of those ‘Audiophiles’, aren’t you.”

Yes, but my list of things to do is literally never ending. Always has been for decades. I never have enough time for anything and look forward to retirement asap.
