Apologies for the poor quality photos of photos! These are from 1983.

And 3 years later…
A Dual CS 505/2 and a Philips CD104 added, along with a better cassette deck and a Rotel RA820.
Cheers,
Ian
I shared that before in another thread.
1984: Rega Planar 2 with Nagaoka MP 50, A&R Cambridge A60 and T21, Nakamichi 480, Harbeth HL Monitor MK IIIs. I was finishing university and working part time selling audio in a Montreal HiFi store called The Sound Studio.
Claude
Takes me back. I had a 505/2 and Rotel in the 80’s too.

That’s a pretty good system for someone at uni!
Hi ClaudeP, brings back great memories, in 1984 I had RP3, A&R A60, and Nak 480, sadly never got the matching tuner for the amp.
Some of those shows are available on Mixcloud
excellent, thank you for posting this. This was my Saturday afternoon listening ritual so great to be able to get to some archive material.
It sure was. I was still living with my parents and could buy hifi at cost +10% from the store, that helps!
Very close indeed. I even upgraded the Planar 2 to a Planar 3 with RB300 a year or so later. Better sound, but for the look I was missing the cherry finish of the Planar 2.
My very first apartment, Seattle, 1983. Art school at the UW. You can see a Baby Advent over in the corner with the Crass logo stenciled on the front. Turntable and receiver would be next to the bed, and you can just see The Rockers Soundtrack as the first record in the box. Fun place.
One of my first great speakers 104/2
They really are a great speaker and I still have them though they’re sitting idle. Nait 3 or 250 they did not care.
There are some great looking 90s systems here, and for me some of the design from Arcam, Meridian and Naim (Olive) hasn’t really been bettered. Or maybe I’d just rather be back in the 1990s.
