Tour de France 2024 🇫🇷

Looks like a 2 horse race already…

In other news, I hope Simon Yates is being paid well to wear those sunglasses.

The second stage was one 'ell of a race. Great to see the breakaway take another victory with one hell of fantastic finish! Enjoying the TOF and hope the rest of the race days provide the the quality of racing we have seen on the first two stages.

I don’t read ahead since I do not want to know the results posted on this thread since living on the west coast of the US I watch a recording of the race since I am usually waking up when they are close to the finishing. I watch a replay of the race on Peacock here in Seattle.

Thanks for opening and the daily updates @Debs

Cav’s Stage 3 cunning plan of a sprint win misfired under 4km out where his team were delayed behind a crash. It was a messy run in to the finish straight, many roundabouts and fast narrow roads made the team train’s going precarious.

Meanwhile an amazing win of Biniam Girmay who not only takes the stage win but 2nd place in the Points Classification, and looking a serious competitor for the green jersey. Mads Pedersen’s 4th stage place, and taking a win with 20 points in the mid race prime moves him up to 4th in Points Classification.

The top four General Classification guys; Carapaz, Pogačar, Evenepoel, and Vingegaard all remain with no time gaps, Richard Carapaz crossed the line first so wins the yellow jersey. This may have been given by default as Tadej Pogačar crossed the finishing line looking relaxed and totally unconcerned - he probably knows he can win it back tomorrow.

Oddly a bit further down the ranks of the GC from 6th to 23rd place no fewer than 18 riders share the exactly same time deficient at 21 seconds. If tomorrow’s mighty Col du Galibier doesn’t break this up we may need to wait for Friday’s Individual Time Trial.

Stage 4 : Pinerolo - Valloire (139.6km)

A very short stage 4 that is nearly all climbing, and with two relatively easy days to follow so this could get explosive.
Seems very stingy awarding the 39.2km Sestriere climb a mere 2nd category status

Cavs post race interview after stage 3
Even if he doesnt get a stage in his probably final tour what a rider and stage wins.
I am always thinking how small he is in height but the turn of speed when he is on the limit is incredible.
Always thought what a lovely guy he is honest and humble …sheer classs

A long day for the riders and for the fans/viewers/commentators of the race.

A nice sprint and Biniam did look strong and a big victory for him and his team!

I am looking forward to watching the replay of todays adventure in the mountains later this morning when available here in the US.

Life is Sweet!

Another good stage to watch. Looks like we could have someone with the Giro and Tour wins in the same year. Is it too soon to wonder if he will go for the grand tour treble this year?

Pogačar was awesome today, his team was awesome - petro dollar changing so many sports. I’m not sure the gap to Vingegaard is great for the race mindst.

Stage 5 : Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne - Saint Vulbas (177.4km)

The hotly contested Green Jersey / Points Classification will be on the boil today and tomorrow. Apparently the two 4th category climbs on today’s profile aren’t as bad as they look, odd to know why the Col de Couz hasn’t been given a category rating.
