Trying out ADOT fibre and Network Acoustics ENO

The single mode fibre could be a very cheap upgrade……available now……just plug into your mc01 and Cisco?

I’ll have a look, although the ADOT supplied SFP module doesn’t work in the Cisco without a bit of buggering about so it’ll be interesting to see what modules they supply.

Looked the same to my untrained eye……they did say they have the cable in grey as well as orange.

Nice write up Gazza. As with most things HiFi, I guess the results may vary depending on the individual circumstances, but I was very pleased with the sound per pound improvement in my system. Interesting to hear the additional improvements brought about by the Plixir PSU… I’m just using the standard linear supply with mine.

Will be interested to read how you get on.

Yes, at home listening is so so important. As i mentioned the Melco switch sounded good……but not in my room a while back. So will try all options that i currently have.
I get a good vibe about ADM and their support listening to other customers at the Signal event……above and beyond for some.

Hi @Gazza

I just came across this thread - how did your tests go?

Funnily enough was talking with some guys at my dealer this afternoon…….i really could not hear any improvement over and above using an Uptone Etheregen or the Innuos Phoenix net…….both of which are essentially trying to do the same thing as the ADOT. Best to try yourself……it definitely worked its magic in a dealer demo.

What combinations did you try? - ADOT into etherRegen with fiber?
Was the Phoenix Net always involved as a endpoint before your ND555?

We say here « le mieux est l’ennemi du bien« ( the best is the enemy of good).

My thoughts… I borrowed the Adot mco2 last week when i first got it i have to say i was very impressed, but as the week went buy and i was very sure it was a great investment i started to change my mind! After listening to vinyl i started to compare the mediums and noticed that the Adot seemed to be compressing the music on my melco for some reason i say this because i noticed i no longer needed to adjust the volume between albums as much, it all started to sound a little … flat and forward sounding ! Not sure why this was the case but when i removed it from the system it all returned to normal and the dynamics returned …even PraT seemed better my foot was tapping again. I was convinced it was better but noticed my foot wasnt tapping… so it has stayed out and I think I will give it a miss! Maybe its system dependent! Just didnt work for me, I wonder if anyone else has found this? Thanks

So is it supposed to be better? Is that what your saying or am i right in my thinking to give up on it?

Not in my experience. Different systems, different ears.

Agreed there is no right or wrong although i am never wrong lol just wondered if anyone else had this issue as it does seem amazing at first, as you say system dependent …… wasnt trying to pick a fight -)

I wasn’t disputing your findings, but the generalisation in the comment above.

Out of interest how are you using it between your ND5XS2 and the rest of your network ?

Via melco and router I used two units as my melco doesn’t have the direct connection

I have borrowed another one just in case it’s faulty and I will report back!

I will let you know lol

So… slightly embarrassing here as i know my dealer will be reading this but… poss user error and using a longer ethernet cable to the melco and now i can hear night and day what its doing. To be sure i played my wife who reckons she cant hear the difference 5 tracks and didnt tell her which way round i had it and she chose the adot everytime and could explain clearly why! No brainer? Fraid so! I wont say what i did here but i think its crucial to set it up correctly but its worth it by far! Well my pocket wont be happy :disappointed:

:large_orange_diamond: I’m also playing with a fiber-solution in my head-amp system.

Installation is important,.and I have a military-spec fiber cable that is ground in four steps for the best soundquality.

In my system definitely worth the money.

What can effect sound quality when using the fibre optics as instal guide do’s and dont’s? As in how not to place it etc and has anyone had a home demo of the plixr power supply with what results? Thanks
