In my opinion, running to improve lasts at least 100 hours! That’s what happened to me …
Stephen, I believe you will love the NAIT XS 2.
I started with the XS 2 and the ND5 XS and they were a wonderful pairing, a fantastic two box system!
I would also like to have xs2 or supernait instead of nait 5si … But for now I have to be content and feel comfortable … nait 5si was my first love naim
I’m in no rush to go out and replace the 5Si that’s for sure. I think it’s lovely amplifier, punches well above it’s weight, more than it ought to given it’s level. I’ve had mine for 5 years now and not once have I felt discontented with it. Super amplifier!
Great Stephen, keep us posted
why not the supernait instead Stephen ?
Because i would not want to upset the balance or aesthetics or my pocket for that matter. I know demos have been done with the ND5 XS 2 and Supernait 2 at various dealers and i’ve heard it demoed at the Bristol show on a 500 series system! A true mullet - and where it made a good fist of things for itself there. What i’m trying to say here is that I would think that the Supernait 2 would be in more deserving (fitting) paired with a NDX 2 instead? I know you can front a Supernait 2 with a ND5 XS 2 and make it work but would it not be bettered paired with it’s natural partner, the NAIT XS2?
I don’t want to go down the classic series route - see above ^^
i don’t know. But some prefer the supernait. But around 1k more expensive i think to remember.
I didn’t listened to both to compare. But perhaps you can investigate…
It would certainly be worth considering for sure, if one were to come up at an attractive (hard to refuse) price that is. Not sure if SWMBO would let me commit myself that far either. Mmm…
Thanks
I’d just enjoy your system and your nice new ND5XS2.
I think you are absolutely right. The Nait XS would be a perfect match, both visually and financially. Those extra watts would also be really useful in getting the best from your Neats. But there is no rush. You’ve planned this for a long time and you should just sit back and enjoy it - which is clearly what you are doing!
We will be enjoying wall to wall sunshine today, which unfortunately for you means a choice between being outside or enjoying your new music reproduction device. Choices, choices.
Sounds like everything has come together Stephen.
As you know your current system cannot take any power supply upgrades the minute the XS 2 arrives a small voice in the back of the head will whisper flatcap.
Yes, it’s certainly going to a very hard choice for me to make today as the ND5 XS 2 is really starting to make a case for itself. There seems to be this wonderful calmness to it today, a majestic flow but at the same time a tighter, more definitive and cohesive sound. I’m no good at describing HiFi in words but the I will say that the burn in process is becoming very noticeable, very nice indeed!
If you are out in the sunshine just leave it ticking over with internet radio at low volume, if you want to speed the burn in process.
Yes, good idea Gazza, thanks!
Chuffed to bits I am!
I had a long listen at Audio show east with Supernait and kanta 3,s…very musical combo. You should be chuffed👍
I have put the Hi-Line back in - WoW!
Thanks Nigel, sound advice as always!
Reading this thread is why streaming will never make it in the mainstream. There’s too many pieces and combinations, with failure of any one of them to cause the whole thing not to work.
Until it becomes as easy as putting a CD in a slot and hitting play, this will never take off. I can’t imagine how daunting this is for a non technical person.
Wadya mean it’l never take off, keep up that man, it has & some while ago. For me that was 5 years ago, & I’m a crusty ol’ geriatric.
