Uniti Nova - Can't Wake Display

I use Roon often and when i start a playlist ,sometimes but not always ,my Uniti Atom will just show a blank screen ,no album artwork. The music plays fine. At that point the remote control will not work to try to bring up the screen.
Putting the Unit Atom in deep sleep and then powering the unit back on always brings the display back.
I have notified Naim support and they are looking into it. I never had an issue for 5-6 months until the last firmware update.

Yeah I agree . It’s a tough one

Hmm was there a definitive answer on the display lock issue? My Nova is now is now displayless. Everything works but no picture. I have tried factory reset and turning off but this keeps coming back.
I am sorry to say I am close to moving from Naim.
I have had two Musos which would not adequately work wirelessly - I know the latest generation ones have improved WiFi performance but these were not cheap units when set against most of the opposition.
My Nova has been better but has had quite a few issues which have generally been resolved by factory reset or have been down to the Android app. And now this, which is not the end of the world I agree, but just another thing. What I find most irritating is my partner’s Sonos thing does not miss a beat -it may be sonically inferior but…
Hopefully some one can put me out of my misery!

Boris, Naim have been working hard on this and I believe they are Beta testing what they hope should fix its for good for those so affected. It could be a good idea to run it past Naim tech support though, just in case, as they need as much data collated from as many people as possible who get this issue.

Thanks Richard. So done and the super fast reply from support looks promising.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your enquiry, i’m sorry you have experienced this issue but more importantly, i hope you and your loved ones are remaining safe and well.

It is something we at Naim are aware of, our software and development team have been working tirelessly to rectify this issue and have integrated the bug fix into the soon to be released, 3.5 firmware update. This will rectify the issue for you as it is currently undergoing Beta testing and has had positive reviews regarding this issue, among a few others. I do not have a definitive date of release but i can say it will be soon.

Once again, apologies for the issue you have encountered but rest assured, it is all in hand.

Kind regards

Ash

Hi Richard, is the Beta available for volunteers? Both my Novas do this without fail and i am a “Tech” user so good feedback potential. Also, it is 100% related to HDMI use in my case. Thanks, Phil

Post to @Will…he can get you added to the beta testing

Yes, contact beta@naimaudio.com, tell them I sent you and let them know what streaming kit you have and that you would like to join the Beta testing team.

Oooh…I just got an Atom. So far so good, but joining this thread, just in case.

I am keeping my display on and am having no issues for now. I will wait for the update resolution before I change anything.

" The problem that Naim has is that most of the units work fine with the present firmware."

Although I understand that most people only look and contribute to this thread when having an issue, I can confirm my Star (purchased in March) does have no issue on 3.4.0.4492. I’t got a subwoofer on the preamp out, DAB antennae, and one USB stick inserted into it in the back. I’m not using the HDMI ARC, and never have. (and probably never will be as long as this issue could potentially be related to the HDMI port)

Thans pbode
I only add that I am not using the HDMI port, and was not when the issue ocurred. It may be a factor but certtinaly not the only one

As the thread starter, I will chime in and say I’ve used HDMI ARC since the start. But I’ve not had any issues in probably 9 months. The latest fw is very solid for me.

I have two Novas the problems only started after the most recent update which from memory was to address previous HDMI issues. Hopefully the forthcoming update will solve the issues.

Hi all.

Happy new owner of an atom this week. Right away I’ve got this issue, after turning off on the remote, and then back on later, 50% of the time the lcd screen doesn’t come on as well.

Everything functions normally, just no display.
Soft power cycling usually resolves, hard power restart resolves.

Firmware 3.4.0.4492 - aren’t using HDMI (tried initially but my Samsung tv isn’t exactly awesome for arc) and now use optical. Typically playing music via roon.

Happy to provide more info or beta test etc if that helps.

Thanks,

Darren, have you been in contact with Naim support about this yet?

Naim have been working hard to try to solve any display freeze issues and having as much info as possible from as many affected users as possible is the best way to get to the bottom of it.

I haven’t yet. Where’s the best place to do that?

All details of contacts are on Naim’s website here:
