So a bit better after being very bad after 3 months of light use is OK then…?
And one more week of heavy use will sort things out…?
I think not.

I took that to mean the first one (prototype=first: I can see a poor translator doing that) he had and the transparent part fell off, hence replacement (there was a spell of Novas where the tape that held the clear plastic strip on was faulty and caused the transparent piece to detach). I’m not sure if he’s telling us that his Nova is on firmware 3.2.
I remember somewhere on the journey towards 3.6 my Nova’s sound quality changed (with one update quite considerably, and it didn’t really “gel with” my speakers anymore, sounding somewhat bright and brittle). I wonder if he’s hearing the same. If so applying the latest firmware should change things again, for the better; it did for my Nova.
BUT… all this mucking round with firmware updates doesn’t replace referring it back to the dealer to deal with
That’s also possible
It’s just that I am routinely using Google to translate support emails from Chinese customers at work, and it rarely or never makes such a mess of it that I don’t understand what they mean. But of course I know a lot about what they might be asking, and just because it happens to work well for one topic (though also software in my case) does not guarantee anything.
The OP’s dealer situation is obviously complicated, but yes, I think everybody on the thread did their very best to be helpful, but with the limited information it is difficult
Thank you for your reply. Recently, Nova continued to play, that is, when I posted this post, Nova, Voice has been greatly improved. Thank you. It’s changing. But one thing is for sure, it needs to be cooked. When it’s just turned on, it’s not all good sound. I didn’t actively deal with it because I’ve experienced a similar process with other new equipment. However, whenever I experience such a long time change again, I still lose my rationality and doubt.
I don’t know really Nigel. But I think to have understood that the Nova was little used during 3 months. The OP was not running it 24/24. So perhaps for now the Nova has less than 100 hours. If it’s the case, running it continuously during one week more, the Nova should be completely burned in and the OP will know if he has to keep it or not.
Deepl is you friend. It’s fantastic. DuckDuckGo it. Google is spyware. I’ve had German colleagues say I must have got a German colleague to write that for me, it’s that good.
I am using DDG for myself, but I really don’t care if Google knows “what do I need to do for making two charts the same size” or “Windows says error 1602”. And it’s a given that every machine translation is going to mine the hell out of every content, how else would it learn or translate.
Thanks for the tip though, if it is better than Google, why not.
Edit: Well, out already, simply not enough languages
Of course, we all know the problem now: the cables are touching the rack!!!
No No No No!!! The reason of the terrible sound.

Yes. This will be the case. Either leave it turned on, or use the stand-by mode, but don’t turn it off and let it go cold unless you are away for many days or there is a serious thunder storm (then unplug it!). It will not be on song from cold for around 10 minutes or so.
I installed my brand new Nova yesterday. It’s sounds excellent direct from the box!
You tell it’s new as the wrappings around the volume knob are still there.
What did you use before the nova I had the atom I didn’t expect there to be such a huge difference it only took a day before it sounded great definitely worth the extra expense and now I have plenty of time to listen
I think this is a silver lining moment
I also had a Atom before the Nova. I was very satisfied with the Atom but the Nova sound so much better. It’s a fantastic all in one system!
Non-alcoholic wine?
That’s not wine, that’s grape juice. Same as non-alcoholic beer, it doesn’t exist. It’s either low-alcohol or a some kind of malt. Alcohol free wine or beer is like a vegetarian steak. You might find it for sale somewhere, but it’s more a marketing term than a factual description of the product.
Sorry I haven’t read all the topic but have you heard the Nova at the dealer shop ? Did you like it ? Does it sound different in your house ?
If you haven’t Heard the Nova before shopping, try to go to dealer, Take your Nova with you and ask a comparatif listing with an another Nova of their own.
It’s important to identify the problem by elimination : perhaps you just don’t like the Nova’s sound. I haven’t listen to the Star but I had an atom and it sounds very different compared to the Nova.
I keep on hearing this ‘the Nova sounds so much better than the Atom’
Having both I’m not seeing it at all. Indeed many prefer the Atom. To me my Atom sounds livelier and easier to listen to than my Nova which sounds darker with too much of the ‘thump’. Could of cause be due to my room and speakers but having seeing many sharing the same I suspect there is something more going on.
he star I had first has a very good sound. It’s bright, open and Nova. It’s changing all the time. But it seems that it’s really different from the star. The sound is calm. But for my speaker, Harpeth P3, the sound is a little too loud, but I need to cook for a while to judge
I had both of them, I personally prefer the Nova essentially for layering instruments but I understand what you’re saying. The Nova has more bass, it seems more organic while the Atom is more snappy, more « brutal » on the attacks. That’s perhaps why it seems more « livelier » : the transition and contrast are perhaps less sequenced with the Atom. So while I prefer the Nova, I understand perfectly why some may prefer the Atom with some speakers.
For example a friend of mine who tend to be an « audiophile » in the 70’s-80’s and listen essentially to classical music and jazz, the combinaison of the Atom and B&W 705 S2 are all what he needs, he doesn’t want to upgrade anything as it works for him. He consider that the Atom is precise and musical and it’s all what he seeks (he didn’t listen to the Nova by the way, but it’s very plausible that he prefers the Atom).
