Uniti Nova has been burning for three months, but it still sounds terrible!

I don’t know the Star, do someone knows if it has the same « bass » than the Nova ? If the Nova has lot more bass, perhaps you should change the speakers position (more space from the wall).

Because I still want to buy a P3 system for the company, star or nova. The sound of star is really great, and it sounds different from Nova. At present, I don’t think Nova has more music than star, so I’m worried about who to buy,

The time I had was not fully opened. The voice was elegant, passionate, soft and waxy Gentle, the violin is very beautiful, Nova at present I feel not mature, performance: clear, fast, medium and low frequency ferocious, steady, violin treble has not extended up, but I think Nova positioning high, should be better, because I am anxious to buy, so I tangled, buy who is good?

I’ve tried to move the speaker forward and backward, a little farther away from the wall, and the sound will be very clear, but it lacks the support of the wall facing the low frequency. It’s too clean and lacks atmosphere. At present, Nova’s high pitch doesn’t extend enough, and the high pitch wave doesn’t rise. I can only suspect that it’s not boiling, or that the star’s sound structure is not Nova condensed, loose, and the low frequency doesn’t have so much energy Don’t listen to me.

star

The Nova should sound better than the Star, but not by a large margin. The speaker positions don’t look good - can you move them forward in front of the cabinet and the furniture to the left?

I think that the most relevant point is your listing impression. In reality, we never listen to charts, graphs and measurement, we only listen to music and there is a part of subjectivity when we pick a system, so if the Star sounds better to your ears then the Nova, don’t be confused : be confident in your impressions and go for the Star. I think that it’s perhaps a good thing : you found the sound that suits you at a lower cost.

The sound can be improved after burning, it can slightly change with cables but if you don’t like the signature sound, I don’t think your impression will radically change by swiping elements. More experimented members can perhaps share their toughs (I am kind of newbie).

Ps. Try to rotate the speakers at about 45 degrees in the direction of the listening position and make sure that the two speakers are at the same horizontal and vertical position.

Even with Kimber cables it shouldn’t sound bad.

When I upgraded to 3.6, the low frequency reduced and the dull feeling disappeared. But now I feel that the low frequency shop is not open enough. In short, I don’t think Nova has surpassed star

Because star is connected to Harbeth P3, which sounds very good. In order to improve the quality, I bought Nova + Harbeth P3 (I have two Naim systems) but this Nova uses 3.2 firmware, and its voice is dull and fierce. So far, its performance is not as good as star. I try to move the positioning. Yesterday, I upgraded 3.60, and the voice is very bright, thin and tight at low frequency. I don’t like this effect even more. I doubt whether there is a running in period? In a word, Nova has not performed well. It has been used for 4 months. I read the forum and said, “it takes 9 months to pass the running in period?”?

Most people are reporting good SQ results with firmware 3.60 (fine with my NDX2 & Atom, and a friend reports improvements with his Nova).
There may be other issues in your power and network environment, and also it may be relevant whether you are using a local source (e.g. USB drive), a networked source (NAS, PC or music server) or a streaming source to validate your findings.

Whenever I’ve heard a Nova it’s always sounded great.

There are 3 components to your problem…

1-speakers
2-Nova
3-you

My guess is that one of these components is faulty, or you just don’t like the sound of 1, or 2, or both together.
