Will get the 52 and see how it sounds for a few weeks. Then send it off for service. Listen to 82 qnd then once 52 is back sell the 82. Or keep it as a spare preamp.

If I was starting over from scratch and with the benefit of hindsight Iād assemble an NDS/555DR, 52, 500. Iād be a very happy listener with a somewhat healthier bank balance. And a beautifully balanced system with my return on investment optimised.

Personally I would be looking at the speaker cables. Think of them as a garden hose with a foot on them. Many cables are a bit strangled, but a few have had the foot lifted completelyā¦ WH cables are excellent, the Phantom and latterly the Spectre both outclassing the N2 with ease. Sadly WH have ceased trading, so used ones would be your only option there.
Alternatively, the Kudos KS1 is a very popular choice on this forum. A lot easier on your wallet than a 500 too. Any chance you could demo some cables?

I will get it serviced by Class A. It will be all sorted out there. I donāt know where it was serviced but was done so in 2013 and POTS 8 upgrade has been done.

Iām not getting a 500 at the moment. I have heard the 500DR and it does offer more power and depth than 135s. And so it should. The 135s are great amps. Thatās why I said they are holding the system back.
I think with the 52 thatās it now. I said I was going to stop with the speakers and give it a break. Now I really need to stop . And sell the 82 to recover my bank balance.

As I have said to Dan above, his 135ās will thank him for the 52.
The Sopra spec shows 8ohm impedance with 91db sensitivity (prima facie), so may be a fairly benign load. If I had not gone for active speakers, I would have kept my 135ās in perpetuity.
If I were in Danās shoes now, and I hope Dan does not mind me saying this, I would install the newly serviced 52 and optimise the system set-up (incrementally, with more Powerlines etc if they are felt to improve system performance).
The problem with āupgradingā is having a plan, and knowing when to stop.

You should think about a Hydra from Grahams HiFi (in London) for mains power to your Naim āboxesā.

I love my 52/sc135 amp combination and have put aside any desire for further upgrades. I hope @Dan_M feels the same once his system and wallet settle down.

Powerline is now in and system sounding superb. Itās on the mains block. I have powerline lites on the 135s going direct to mains. Into the block are chord purple cables for the XPS and Supercap 2 and a HB labs cable for the 555PS. Standard Naim plug going into Lingo direct into mains. And the Grham Slee phono stage is plugged into the block.
So if I go full loom Powerline it will cost a fortune with 5 more Powerlines required!
No doubt that once the 52 arrives the system will sound even better.

Iād agree with Graeme about a Hydra - star-earthing really suits Naim boxes. But Iād agree with you that a pile of Powerlines seems excessive, and that a 52 should be the icing on the cake in a way that no choice of mains cable is likely to be.
