Vinyl rack

I am looking for a smart en neat way to store my vinyl records.
My storage “behind closed doors” is full so I am looking for some inspiration. Internet is full of standard racks, but still have not found what I am looking for.

I will most likely build it myself as I want it to fit the cupboard next to it in color and height.

So feel free to share your way of storing your vinyl.

That’s really nice.
I’d need about six of them, possibly more.

I know the feeling, takes so much space, but I just want one storage for the ones I play a lot and the new ones.

The Forum search function (top right ‘Q’) is your friend here – perhaps search for ‘Kallax’ (Ikea) and see what takes your fancy e.g.

I’ve found the issue with vinyl storage is the cost, especially with 500+ items, hence why Kallax (and the various formats and options) is chosen by many.

Just found those on the web. Food for thought!

I find original the one flipping open on a pivot.
Not sure though that it’s an easy exercise when heavy full of vinyls….

“Vinyls” may be a young persons’ word, like “cool”, “muggle” and “jazz” perhaps.

Meanwhile, I may have a reason not to splash out on record- holding furniture.

I too got something nice in wood to hold records and CDs - designed and built to fit the alcove. The yew is darkening nicely after 20+ years and it’ll carry on getting visually better when I am wormfood. I am still pleased (net) with the furniture choice.

Note that the furniture is vertical but the house isn’t…

Naturally, the vinyl has already expanded further than originally anticipated in about 2000 (“surely over 700 is a bit unrealistic?”). I could rip and store the CDs in those drawers, but that won’t make the space in the drawers suitable for LPs.

I imagine that, had I also moved house in the last 20 years, the likelihood of that thing becoming much more non-ideal would have been large.

By contrast, if I had simply built a pile of these things…

…in about 2003, flexibility would have been nearly infinite. But of course, had we known in 2003 what we know now, we would all have done a few things differently.

I do find the vinyls, sorry vinyl tends to fill the available space.

Thanks!
I am aware of the Kallax easy way of storing.
But they are to big for me and not the style I am looking for (or is that the misses talking😋)

I want to see the front of the records and brows through them, just like in a store.

Like the idea of the metal stand it is on, I am saving this idea. The welding diploma comes in handy,….finally.

Four Eyes built a cool storage unit in a recent YT video. Don’t know if I like all his aesthetic choices but the design is pretty stylish.

Space for a couple of crates on the top

That is nice as you’ve almost got two current favourite racks on top and some medium term storage for thing syou’re very likely to want to move to the top on occasions. Then yiou just need the longer term racks for the rest!

Exactly! I miss space, this will help only so much, but it will help me to browse easier on the top case.

Ikea. Because you don’t know how many records you risk to have.

Happily married, so it would be the misses, not Ikea

Personally I already have a couple of very tall Kallax style racks however I rather fancy having a store style rack for my most frequently played albums separate from the main collection. These seem to be quite rare in the UK although I note that in the USA there are many options: https://manofmany.com/living/furniture/best-vinyl-record-storage

I only wish we had similar choice here!! I rather like number 9 on this list and the price is reasonable too - just a shame it’s not available in the UK!!

I’ve seen these from Glorious range which store records front on like in a record store

They look neat and can hold 160 records each.

I have this, put as much or little vinyl as needed
99.9% of mine is stored away, I swap over regularly,
Except my new stuff, second from bottom

Jonathan, the Glorious rack below could be of interest. This was £120. Construction is acceptable rather than great, but it functions fine and the looks don’t draw attention to themselves. It has the top flick-thru bin which is nice.
