Frank Popp Ensemble Ft Paul Weller - Right Before My Eyes, Unique Records (2025)

According to the BN website, both this and the McLean will be Classic Series releases, not Tone Poets.

That’s correct. These are not Tone Poet releases, they are Blue Note Classic. They were previously reissued as Music Matters 45 RPM releases, and Joe isn’t repeating any Music Matters titles for the Tone Poet series.

Apologies I always get the two confused

I’ve just pledged for the Kickstarter of Labyrinth and opted for the package that will (hopefully) include the LP Mirage by the Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet.

They need to get to £10,000 pledged in order for it to be a go, so if if you’re at all interested then I can only encourage you to do like I have done. At the very least, it may well turn out to be a very nice investment down the line…

Have to say that I already have a copy of the book from its first printing. It’s an interesting tome - albeit it is big and takes up a lot of physical space.

Lee Morgan’s The Complete Live at the Lighthouse 12-LP set has been re-pressed in a non-numbered edition, for those who missed it the first time. Mastered by Kevin Gray, pressed at RTI. $350 in the U.S. from the Blue Note Store.

Gave this a listen, what a great album! Was not familiar with Chronixx (shows you how knowledgeable I am on Reggae) but I went down a Roon rabbit that made me reconsider my opinion on the post-Marley Jamaica. Oh the joy of discovering new music

There are many singers/songwriters who have come out of Jamaica in the past 10 years or more who are more in the mould of Bob Marley, Dennis Brown etc taking the music back to it’s roots instead towards American Rap and R&B and thank the gods for it.

This will be great. Joe and Kevin nailed it with Volume 1 a couple years ago.

Another Brian Jackson and Masters at Work reworking of Gil Scott Heron initially released on the excellent Reflections LP from 1981. Rashaan Patterson sings on this new version in place of Gil Scott Heron.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (Speed Correction) Analogue Productions (2025)

Another excuse for another KOB reissue for suckers like me or a genuine historical document probably the former but it does use BG’s Classic Records cuts which if you have the UHQR 33rpm or any of the Classic Records reissues you already have and if you own a copy from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s you have the non speed corrected.

The alternate of Flamenco Sketches cut at 45 rpm should be interesting to own as I’m a sucker.
