Never heard this one and I heard that the acoustics aren’t great. The original release was on a budget label I think. I do have Seamen’s LP on UK Verve with the Tony Lee Trio.
Presumably ‘Morgan Blue Town’ has something to do with Barry Morgan and Morgan Studios?
It’s good to hear that they are continuing with the British Jazz Explosion series of vinyl reissues. I’m still hoping for a reissue of Stonehenge by William Russo and The London Jazz Orchestra…
Surprisingly, the Russo didn’t appear in either the ‘Impressed’ or Vocalion CD reissues (although ‘Russo In London’ did) so maybe there is a legal issue applicable to the Stonehenge album?
The Style Council - Cafe Bleu (Special Edition) (2026) Polydor
3 LP edition featuring the lp plus lots of previously unheard alternate, demos and mixes very excited for this deep dive into this brilliant debut full LP from the Style Council. Also available on CD.
Admittedly it’s overpriced but if you don’t already own the excellent but pricey UHQR or Classic Records copies then it might be for you.
Even copies of the Music on Vinyl reissue will sent you back north of £35 and the Classic Records double lp which is essentially the same in mint condition will cost a bit more than this AP reissue. I’m not defending the pricing it’s expensive no doubt but there is a market for it and it will sell.
Johnny Griffin - A Blowin Session, BN/Classic Vinyl (2025)
Recorded just prior to Blue Train for which John Coltrane would recruit the rising star of the Jazz trumpet Lee Morgan the session also features Hank Mobley and was put together to replicate a live performance.
Released for the first time on vinyl and probably my favourite ECM title I’m very happy for this reissue featuring Hariprasad Chaurasia John McLaughlin and Jan Garbarek it’s also one of my favourite recordings featuring John McLaughlin.
Donald Byrd - Byrd Jazz, Transition /Sam Records (2025)
Although I’m a big fan of both Donald Byrd, Yusef Lateef and Sam Records the near £50 being asked for this live recording is a bit much for what it is. No doubt Sam Records and Pallas have done there very best but the recording is well below par and it’s also the 2nd ‘Limited Edition’ run of 1000 copies.
