Vinyl releases on pre order

Thanks I’m not strongly familiar with Roxy on vinyl but I gather from your comments here that these new re issues are good?

Great news, if this is true.

I don’t have any of these reissues so I’m afraid I cannot comment on how good they are. I am considering getting Stranded as my original copy is crackly.

I can tell you that that this should will be extremely good!

I have the Music Matters which is the same mastering aporoach as Tone Poet so everything else being in order this will be a fantastic opportinity for those who missed the MM or simply just want a brilliantly mastered and hopefully pressed vinyl copy of an essential Blue Note album.

I’ve been after a decent copy for quite a few years the problem is that any so called ‘Audiophile’ copies are priced out of ordinary punters grasp almost as soon as they are released.

he 75th Anniversary is mediocre at best and was my first copy the Jazz at 33rpm was part of Magazine series that was better but the Japanese copy which was a part of Alfred Lion’s 100th birth date celebrations was better still. I’m confident thought that the Tone Poet will surpass all three.

I am guessing this Tone Poet John Coltrane Blue Train will be stereo.
The MMJ was mono. That way Joe could still say he’s not repeating MMJ stuff.
Could be wrong though!

It does seem to be going back on their own words a little so as you say a stereo mix could be on the cards and also Tone Poets where supposed to be the more obscure lesser known titles but I suppose you cannot begrudge them a bumper payday which Blue Train will surely be.

As I’ve found out it’s almost impossible to get a decent copy either a Classic, AP or Music Matters for under a £150 so a £32 Tone Poet will be a great seller if they produce enough copies.

Edit: I’ve just rewatched the video again and Jo uses the word special more than once so I’m guessing it won’t be a standard £32 TP.

I thought the Jazz at 33 and a 1/3 reissue wasn’t bad at all. In fact, rather good. Of course, I’d expect a TP reissue to be a lot better…

I agree Richard I actually bought it on based on your posts about the Jazz at 33rpm and for the money I paid for a sealed copy with the magazine it was a real bargain much better than the BN75 copy I had.

Watching the video again it seems that this Blue Train will not be a standard TP but something akin to the recent Ornette Coleman perhaps a multi disc box set.

Hmm. That could be interesting. I thought Blue Train was the only album John Coltrane did on Blue note as a leader. I wonder what else would comprise a box set?

Good point :+1:

You could order it from Acoustic Sounds in the US, be aware of the postage costs though. Have this on order myself from them. Still cheaper than a UK company I saw it on.
Got the UHQR miles Kind of Blue direct from the miles Davies official site,$100 plus reasonable postage and no tax, so always worth checking out official artist sites.

This UHQR is not listed on the Hendrix official site however….
