No self control needed in my case - I just find most music that I like sounds best played by the album not as isolated tracks. (And I’m lazy by nature!)
I’m exactly the same as you describe. (not counting internet radio, as often on as background music so would skew that statistic)
Yes, whatever else anybody might feel about the Micro-line stylus AT cartridges, in my experience they are about as good as it gets for tracking inner grooves as well as shallow, tightly packed grooves. I remember the first time I tried the AT-OC9MLII and its distortion performance on the inner grooves was astonishingly good, even on very long sides.
@ricsimas- Ricardo, what loading are you running your 1000 at? I understand they like a low number, 30?
ATB,
Mark
As you got the same result when the dealer brought his kit round (if I remember correctly), my second paragraph is validated. From my reading of reports from members of this forum, many find your kit including Rega cartridge sounds good. IMHO the underlying problem won’t go away with just a change of cartridge.

I’m running it straight into the standard S cards in a NAC 52, actually. I was (and still am) in between separate phono stages wen I got it, as I just didn’t get the chance to audition anything after moving on from the Urika which I didn’t think was the ideal match.
Maybe I’m stupid. But if it sounds mediocre why not get something better or different? How about a ClearAudio, Concept?
Got it Ricardo.
This is interesting.
I got to hear Ania last year on both Rega RP10 and LP12/ARO and I found no sibilance issues on both tables.
Now when my dealer set up a brand new P8/Apheta 2 for a demo in the same system, right out of the box it sounded coarse and flat. But when it was hooked up to Superline/SC, all the harshness were gone.
Have you consider upgrading your phono?
Because I don’t think it is cause of the turntable, rather the element.
Yep that is one of my considerations. When I get a chance to go and demo the Ania Pro I am also going to be looking at other phono stages. Secretly I am wondering if the Rega Aria would improve things as well.
Rega Aria was nice with P6. Tho it had a Linn Adikt. (MM)
Also what phono cables are you using?
Using the RP6 cables from TT to phono and an Audioquest Sydney from phono to Star. But before that I had another interconnect and it dit it as well.
Have you tried Naim RCA/DIN interconnect cable?
No I have not and I am also not going to. It is wildly overkill for my system. There is no way that the Audioquest is generating left heavy sibilance in my mind.
OOh nice, that does seem to sit quite snugly.
Mike and Caroline at Audiodestination in Tiverton were very helpful with this.
Unfortunately I live across the pond so that one is out. Especially now.
Perhaps it’s a problem of match between the Ania and Moon 110 phono…
Can you borrow the Rega Aria phono @Kryptos to see if sibilance is still there ?
