Vitus integrated amp v 552/500

My 500 arrived on a pallet banded into one lump, I can’t remember how it got up the step but I think a hand cart was involved in getting it from the delivery van. I nearly gave myself a hernia trying to post the head unit into the assembled Fraim, and the balls went flying. Better to rebuild the stack around it if you’ve not installed one before.

That sounds painful and can’t be right!

Sounds as if these 500 boxes should come with some form of surgical support?

Gregg we need a pic lol, but seriously you will love the rossini set up, i am 100% sure about that, just dump the standard cables between the clock and rossini, i went with the ones that are mentioned on the dcs forum, very cheap as well.

If you think the 500 is heavy, then dont get a vitus amp, as these make the 500 look fly weights.

You mean this part? “I nearly gave myself a hernia trying to post the head unit into the assembled Fraim, and the balls went flying.” Yah – sounds painful.

All three of them too.

dCS Rossini and Rossini Master Clock was set up Monday evening and I could not resist having a quick listen with the Utopia Headphones (552/500 just delivered today). Stone cold my session turned into a 2 hour marathon. My initial impressions are that it has vanquished the Linn KDS. Another session last night after 24 hours of warm up only confirmed what I thought on Monday.

Time to rebuild the 552/500 system and slot the Rossini in and see what it does

I will not be able to join you guys on Saturday.

Couldn’t they have found some bigger boxes  Well at least the original Naim boxes are in pristine condition inside I should imagine. When I had mine delivered the courier deliberately dropped one of my 555PS boxes about a meter in free fall onto my drive. Needless to say I got the remaining 3 myself from the edge of his loading bay in his van… what’s the matter with people?! Have fun Peter

Chris West is VERY meticulous with shipping (as he is with everything). Before I shipped them out he sent an extremely detailed list of packing instructions specifying carton and bubble wrap specifications, reminders for transit screws, reminders to fasten transit screws with electrical tape etc.

Eco friendly as well. The same cartons made the journey both ways

Our Pana breadmaker worked itself off the counter on to the floor with a mighty crash the other week. Bread binned now sadly.

Will we get a new one I wonder…

Well the 552 is booked in and going off to be DR’ed and serviced in about 2 weeks time.
Being dropped off to the door at naim by Paul at hifi lounge, so no problems with couriers

My 552 is due a service/DR soon so I am interested in your thoughts when your returns.

Yes, hopefully not a waste off money, as it sounds great, but then it’s due a service and might as well get it DR’ed to match the 500.
But will report on it all once its been done.

On the vitus sia025, since sending it back, over a week ago now, i have had 2 guys contact me on Facebook, asking about the vitus over the naim, one guy has moved over, but he was running a much lower spec than the 500, and went for a r101 amp, the other has stayed with naim, he is running, 300dr, 282, ndx2, and looking at the sia025, Not that it all really matters, but just thought i would mention it.

@glevethan just a few days ago got his 500 and 552 back from DR’ing. He reported that upon first power-up it sounded amazing, and then after a day or so has entered into the typical name ‘ok now it’s a bit off’ phase of new Naim component burn-in. I’m sure he’ll be happy to report better than I can second-hand! I doubt he views it as a waste of money.

I am certainly not expecting it to be a waste of money, but as I cant say how off my 552 is, it is very hard to judge what a service is going to bring, also having it DR’ed at the same time, it’s going to be impossible to say.
But going the whole hog and getting the 552ps DRed and service, plus the 552 is getting a service, as then I will have a fully up to date 552 and going forward with the recent 500dr up date, it should see me all right for many years to come, as I am not going to be moving these on.
