What are you driving and why would we be interested?

Great taste in dogs there @JMC ! Tri-colour collie or Bernese?

We rescued a Bernese Mountain dog and are so very pleased that we did. One condition of the rescue is no on-line photos, so sorry that we can’t reciprocate.

Best regards, BF

They were a pair of Border Collies rescued from a puppy mill as young adults. A spectacular pair who are now sadly gone.

That’s odd, can I ask why?

@Mikee Yes good cars - I have a 9-3 estate as you call them. It’s a pity they aren’t made anymore but as you say there is a good community.
Hope you are enjoying yours.

Your 9-3 convertible is a beauty and one of the very last ones made by the look of the reg! I had a 2005 9-3 Vert for over 7 years and 100 000 trouble free miles - absolutely brilliant car and I always say it was the best all round car I have ever owned because it does absolutely everything you ever need a car to do flawlessly… It’s an utterly beautiful and classless design, it’s brilliantly safe, they’re reliable, economical, it’s got the world’s most comfortable seats, it takes 4x people in excellent comfort, has adequate boot space for a decent continental road trip or week’s shopping, you can carry outsize loads with the roof down when needed (including in my case a 7xft inflatable dolphin for my daughter’s pool playdays!), they’re fast, quiet, absolutely never leak and are quite a sporting drive. I still miss mine!!

I think Saab must be one of the world’s most missed automobile manufacturers and I have followed their trials and tribulations hoping and praying that one day they will come back. The problem with Saab is that until you have owned one you just don’t realise how incomparably brilliant they are…

Always loved this ad for the 9-5NG:

My wife has a last generation 9-5 (complete with head up display!) and we love it to bits…

The latest prototype to come out of the old Saab Trolhattan factory is the rather beautiful new Emily GT with its 600 mile electric range and revolutionary in wheel electric motor technology. I hope they build it!

Hi Pete, certainly.
In the UK, the legal status of rescued dogs is ambiguous when it comes to ownership rights between the original owner and the rescuer. There have been too many cases where the original owner has a change of heart after a few weeks or months, then wants to reclaim the rescued dog.

The Bernese Mountain Dog association in the UK has therefore introduced a policy of making owners & rescuers sign a contract. One clause in the rescuer’s contract is that we will not post any photographs of the dog on social media, as it may enable the original owner to locate & reclaim the rescued dog.

If you would like to know more, perhaps a new thread in the Lounge would be the place to do so.

You are correct on all points. I only bought her as a summer “fun” car, but now I use most days and in all weather conditions.
What’s incredible is the level of parts and service support available.

I concur completely.
Still miss our SAAB 9-3 Sportback company car pity it had to go back as the company stopped providing cars.
I always wished that we could have fitted 3 saddles and bridles in the boot of the convertible.

Like a stepladder?

Practical hey.

I’d never be able to get in it never mind reach that stepladder

Looks weird to me

I saw one of these in the metal this week for the first time (and in this colour). Looked absolutely fabulous, and bigger than I had expected. Definitely half size up from the Elise.

Apart from the Blue metallic Vinyl Wrap and a stage 1 Re-map, my 635 Sport is completely original. Is still easily the best car i have ever owned and is a pleasure to drive at speed over long distances :grinning:

Very nice @kitfit1. Have you been pleased with re-map have you found it a noticeable performance enhancement?

Yes @Steve_S i have been well pleased with the re-map. The increase in performance has been staggering. BHP 285 to 340 and Torque 580Nm to 680Nm. Because it’s a stage 1, there was no need to do any work on the engine, suspension or gearbox. As it was already a very Torquey car anyway the extra 100Nm has made a huge difference.

Very similar figures to mine @kitfit1. I went with an easily removable tuning box with seven levels of (bluetooth adjustable) intensity on it, with 10% mpg gains in 1 through to “stun” in 7. My 535 was never a slouch or torque shy either but the in gear performance now is just ballistic when required! 375 BHP and 700Nm

Yep @Steve_S i see at least 10% mpg gains as well. A win win all round with the extra performance as well. It’s now just as easy to go past a line of cars on a country road (with a 40mph specialist at the front ) as it is on my Ducati 1098s. I never went for the box, mine was a full ECU re-map.

This was the main reason I went for the power and torque upgrade as 95% of my driving is rural or semi-rural so this gives me a very big edge to safely and quickly pass the many farm vehicles, caravans, trucks and lines of slow (multiple vehicles) bumper to bumper driving at 40 mph. :ok_hand:

I stopped riding 3 years ago. The reason is that with age my legs have got shorter and i simply can’t touch the deck anymore. Lowering the bike is not an option because i have ridden a lowered one and they handle like a pig. It will end up in my living room sometime this year.
