lovely, well played !
citroen.
DS is now a separate brand. It did originally start out as a line of Citroen, but you’ll not find any Citroen branding on this one.
I had to look this up . I think the DS I have hired is made in Germany at the Opel factory. The brand is aimed to compete with the lower end of the German premium sector. It looks remarkably like a Peugeot 308 to me. However, it seems very impressive.
“Stellantis designs, manufactures, and markets vehicles under 14 brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks, and Vauxhall.”
Beautiful car!
What is it?
It is a Yamaha X-Max 400 to be precise.
The bike is tweaked in performance (J. costa vario coupler, Akrapovic exhaust and Malossi Multivar) and looks/comfort (removed the big screen so no wind gushing around my beloved ears)
Looks gorgeous.
Welcome to the club, there are a few here on the forum. Specs? Manual or PDK? Mine above PDK which superseded a white manual one. Actually this time i wanted an RS GT4 or Spyder , unfortunately Two years ago, had no way to get an allocation. Now in Italy Porsche Is flooded with new unregistred RS models still unsold.
If I were ever to have the spare money my aspiration would be for a manual with its gearbox fettled to lower the gearing better suited to UK A and B roads. Companies like RPM Technik offer such a service. For now though, dream on…! Lovely looking cars with the right spec and colour combos, whether Spyder or RS version and assume you are both delighted. Lucky chappies!

The PDK gearbox on GT cars is absolutely brilliant, i don’t regret the manual a nil.
RPM job is not cheap and may affect the resale value.
Relatively speaking, the 718 2.0 PDK was more engaging and much more practical, not for the roof but for the ride height. The non RS models without Front Lift are a nightmare
Around 2 months without a car now.
Wish I could say it was fun but it isn’t. We could probably get away with one 3-4 days of the week, but I spend 2-3 days each week wasting 40 mins each way taking Mrs Ac to work and later picking her up. The cost in time is quite significant financially if that makes sense.
2 months after the contract hire car being picked up I’ve still not had a final invoice.
Rang them yesterday and they said ‘ooh, your hire is still active, no idea why we’ve not sent the invoice for extra days +/- refurbishment to you yet’. I’ve never encountered such a lovely bunch of call handlers working for a completely inept company who don’t reply to emails/queries and everything requires the patience of a saint or a crystal ball.
Probably alluded to this before but I was considering buying the vehicle.
Kerbed a 20" front alloy (£700 new) and unexpectedly wore a hole in the driver footwell carpet from the heel of my shoe/trainer which local garage estimated £1400 to repair/replace (you gave fine tips which were probably beyond me - or at least I thought I might make things worse!).
I was really considering purchasing the car but prices had fluctuated so much, almost randomly, I simply couldn’t decide if it was vfm and they ultimately gave me no option but to return it at quite short notice.
It’s been sold at auction and I’ve found it at a dealer as an approved vehicle though at almost £3000 more than BCA were willing to sell it to me for.
Can’t explain why but I’m tempted but should probably move on.
The car was far from perfect but I have an odd attachment to it which is very strange - suspect it’s because I don’t change cars often and was simply used to it.
If everything has been fixed properly…and you can knock 'em down a bit. Don’t mention your involvement with it
Check if the carpet has been repaired if not say that it seems inconsistent with the mileage and you are concerned[1]. Of course you will know if the mileage is correct but don’t tell them that, you could well get another chunk off and it will be back on warranty.
Of course if you go ahead they may realise your name is on the V5 but by that time they will have been “Afur Daley’d”
[1] if they say cars can’t be clocked anymore then they are wrong.
A trend which will soon due to be dramatically reversed when governments inevitably win their battles to force feed the ignorantly invented blight of white good electric barges down our necks - enjoy your real cars whilst you can, blindly overspend on them at your peril though !!
