Have that on vinyl too, think it’s in my mother’s attic! Must dig it out as I’d completely forgotten about it. Bought it on holiday in Chicago in 77, not one of his best as I recall

After spending all morning cleaning and tidying up the cables, time to fire it back up and make sure everything still works. XTC - English Settlement should iron out any bugs.

Sibelius Violin Concerto: Heifetz/CSO/Hendl '59 recording

Heifetz is my man!
Extremely showy and precise Heifetz give the best commanding presence. Warm and weighty orchestra background give him a solid support. This is a very macho performance fitting for the composer’s work. CSO at their best. I love RCA digital remasters from the 80s. Subsequent digital reissues just don’t sound as good.

Streaming. Need to get this on vinyl. Preamp on the 272 is way better than the streamer.

Sibelius VC: Accardo/LSO/Davis - '79 recording

Mellower and more relaxed approach than Heifetz. Love the warm inviting tone of his fiddle.
