My English teacher at school back in 1973 let me borrow THE bootleg Bob Dylan’s Great White Wonder which contained tracks from the unreleased Basement Tapes, Johnny Cash Show and Bonnie Beecher’s Apartment.
Then a few years later in 1975 I saw an ad in Sounds for David Bowie’s 1972 Santa Monica Auditorium show at £8 - wow £8 for a record even if it was a double that would have been 4 months paper round money.
Next year I passed on a three album set of Bob Dylan’s VD Blues bootleg series for sale at Tommy Vance’s shop Scenic Sounds in Folkestone for £3.99 per album again what’s a schoolboy to do.
Tom Petty. Wildflowers & all the rest. I missed this album when it was originally released. After a quick stream I opted to buy this 2 cd edition. So still in discovery mode.
Somewhere I’ve got stored 3 white covered boots of Bob bought in 69. One was called little white wonder volume 3 and another was live. I’m sure one was on coloured vinyl. Surely not. Must dig them out sometime
I think I almost had the haircut on the cover, not so hairsprayed on the top (motorcycle helmets put paid to that) and certainly not that colour. In about 1981.
