I’m a Lucinda William’s neophyte, but this grabbed me when it came out. I’ve tried some other of her albums like the “critically acclaimed” Car Wheels On A Gravel Rd. I haven’t heard This Sweet Old World.
None of them move me like this which to me feels more like she’s singing with attitude, down home and rootsy, particularly on songs like, Protection, East Side Of Town, Cold Day In Hell and the palpable sense of menace in West Memphis.

Note to self, need more Steve Earl in my record collection!
Love the track Burnin It Down, about wanting to burn down Walmarts.
Strikes a chord with my Anarchist tendencies!

John Cale on ferocious form with songs that never made it onto studio albums. Marc Aaron (whoever he was/is performs some stellar guitar playing with such a great tone).

A peak performance from Cale.
