Brian Wilson - Live at the Roxy Theatre - WAV CD rip
Mentioned by @BobF yesterday, Brian Wilson with a great backing band and backing vocalists who can fill in for his occasional vocal lapses and who harmonise as beautifully as the original Beach Boys. Wonderful performances of Beach Boys numbers, what more could you want on a wet and cold Boxing Day?

An easy listen - and great recording quality too. 50 years on, this anniversary edition is fabulous. Takes classic songs even further with undisputed talent. Still a superb voice.

Me too later on, lovely complement to part 1.

Natural follow up (or should that be precursor) to Air from earlier?

Love this band, and in particular the songs and voice of Jim James.

Le théâtre musical de Telemann - Ensemble Masques, Olivier Fortin. Alpha CD.

In 1723, the Leipzig church was looking for a new cantor. They offered the position to Telemann first and Graupner second, but they both declined. Unable to recruit a top composer from the Leipzig school, they turned around and hired the best of the second-string category, a fellow by the name of John-Sebastian Bach.

Despite that rivalry Bach and Telemann were were good friends - Telemann was Carl Philip Emanuel Bach’s godfather.

Today, of course, the opinion is that Bach is vastly superior to both Telemann and Graupner. But listening to that great recording, I wonder if we don’t underrate Telemann?

Ensemble Masques’ performance is lively and the Alpha sound quality, sumptuous.

Gwenifer Raymond - Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain

So I had to hear what all the fuss is about.

What I like about this album is that Gwenifer is not only a talented acoustic guitarist, but the compositions are interesting and engaging. It feels like she focuses on the music rather than showcasing her obvious talent.

Really enjoining this currently. Very well mastered and sounds truly fantastic. Highly recommended if you wanting a fairly chilled out acoustic listen. :+1:t2:
