Like @ToddHarris I’m a Klemperer fan. His 1962 version of Brahms’ 4th Symphony sounds as fresh and revolutionary today as it did back then. A monument. CD.

The 4 Symphonies and Ouvertures (including the remarkable Alto Rhapsody Op. 53) can still be found at a very good price at the river.

I remember the old Virgin shop above the shoe shop in Oxford Street. I got asked once many moons ago to go and run the Megastore in Oxford St but the finacial package wasn’t right so turned it down and at the same time turned down a post in Berlin with a major. I must have been nuts at the time.

That old upstairs Virgin was a good place. I never settled to the Megastore. Too big, too glitzy…

When I first came across the Mega it had the coffee shop in it so the wife used to leave me to it for a day, go and do her shopping and she would literally come and pick me up late pm. She was reminding me last night about when Tower shut down in HK and I was standing at the checkout with a full shopping trolley of cd’s. Prices were excellent.

Thanks @bhoyo just my life is tied up with the planning application issue from my neighbour I flagged up in the padded cell. I’ve lost the muse for music at the moment but I’m sure I’ll bounce back.

Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… gave this a watch on HBO last evening and thought I would kick off the day with Bruce and this fine album. It has been a couple of months since I gave it a spin and Bruce and his band, orchestra and backup singers is sounding sublime! One fine album and film…
