Mary Chapin Carpenter - One Night Lonely
Mary Chapin Carpenter (Vocals, Guitar).
Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/24)… kicking off this Sunday morning with the beautiful and soothing tunes from Mary and she is sounding sublime! I do love all her music…
Irrlicht - stunning album
Agreed. Composed the most perfect pop song in Dancing Queen.
Again subjective but I watched a music theory program years ago that broke down the composition and concluded it contained every perfect musical element.
I also like the fact it was one of the first songs to start mid chorus rather than on a first verse.
It’s still the only song that when played at parties gets everyone up.
The ever wonderful Arun Ghosh at sunny but soggy Snape Maltings with an ace band: Chris Williams; Idris Rahman; Ruth Goller and top drummer Sarathy Korwar. The usual Punjab via Bolton jazz with arrangement of Irving Berlin, Blondie and T Rex songs. Marvelous!
Nick Drake, 2nd Album 1970.
Often catagorised as Folk, but I think it was Richard Thompson who said he wasn’t Folk, it was Jazz. Probably correct. A real pity he died thinking he was a failure. He is now much loved.

The Blue Nile - High
A romantic feel to the early evening with this CD, after work.
