It’s wonderful, thanks. :grinning:

Rory Gallagher! One of my guitar heroes from when I wore a younger man’s clothes.
Remember a concert of him in 1973 in Rotterdam. At that time some oil exporting countries had declared an oil export ban to the Netherlands because our government supported Israel during the war in October 1973. To prevent oil shortage the Dutch government declared a traffic ban for cars on Sunday.
Rory’s concert was on Saturday evening and ended after midnight. So we could only get home by train. Unfortunately first train went on 6 or 7 o’çlock in the morning if I remember correct. “No problem”, said Rory, “we’ll play until first train leaves!”
Great guitar player,great performer,great guy!!!
So sad he passed away way to early.
Have to dig up some old live vinyl records from him this weekend. Irish Tour '74 and Live! In Europe.

Bobbie Gentry with James Taylor and Donovan

A couple of BBC shows from the late 60’s.

The James Taylor show was taken from the original reels which were allegedly wiped by Auntie Beeb at some later time.

Listening to it at the moment, unsure. It’s very Maiden but sound quality is a bit dull.

Gerry Rafferty - Rest In Blue (2021)

Released today. Streaming on Qobuz.

Quoting from Rough Trade
" From 2006, Gerry started work on a new album on and off, but sadly passed away in 2011. His daughter, Martha Rafferty, sought to complete a project started by father, culminating in Rest In Blue. Many of the demos left by Gerry included multiple layers of synths, which Martha stripped back to showcase his immense vocal ability. The result is an album brimming with raw emotion, and a quintessential collection of blues, rock, and folk. Some of the demos date back as far as 1970, many of which Rafferty had singled out as potential tracks for his new album.

With elements of the songs written at varying parts of Gerry’s career, the album tackles a variety of topics including, climate change on Sign Of The Times, questioning the legality of war in Lost Highway, and addressing problems with his alcoholism in the emotively honest Still In Denial. As well as many brand-new originals penned by Gerry, the album features popular traditional folk songs such as Wild Mountain Thyme and Dirty Old Town. It also features a cover of Richard and Linda Thompson’s It’s Just The Motion, an artist Gerry was a big admirer of. The album finishes with a re-record of the Stealers Wheel classic Stuck In The Middle With You recorded back in the 90s, that gives the track a fresh, country-inspired interpretation. Rest In Blue called upon many musicians that had worked closely with Gerry throughout his career."

McCartney. Unplugged 1991, Vinyl. Apparently, the only “completely unplugged” album in the MTV series. No instruments plugged in. Some lovely versions. It is on Sky Arts somewhere.

Eberhard Webber - Later That Evening

Eberhard Weber (Bass), Paul McCandless (Soprano Saxophone, Oboe, English Horn, Bass Clarinet), Bill Frisell (Guitar), Lyle Mays (Piano) and Michael DiPasqua (Drums, Percussion).

Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/16)… After listening to Lyle Mays final recording titled ‘Eberhard’ yesterday I thought I would continue on this afternoon with one of my favorite albums from Eberhard. I have not had this album out for a spin in a while and the four compositions by Eberhard are beautifully performed by this quintet. Just love the piano playing on the opening track by Lyle on the opening track. This is one very sweet album!
