I have On Sunset, not heard the remixes, any good compared to the straight album?
Yes, some really nice ideas - spacey, gentle grooves, pleasurably ambient in places, complements the sound of the main album quite well, I’d say.
Sorry, been meaning to ask what is the turntable, looks interesting
Hi,
It’s an old Roksan Radius 5 (first version) with an Ortofon Cadenza Red MC.
(Going into a Vertere Phono 1 preamp)
Shakti - Saturday Night in Bombay
I mentioned this in an exchange with @suzywong, who has interpreted it as a recommendation, so I thought I’d better make sure it deserves such! It is actually a delightful and quite addictive album, very different to most of the material I listen to.
I remember the Xerxes but not seen that glass/perspex model before
Thanks Andy. Added for later

This Blood And Fire label compilation pulls together some sublime 12" cuts from The Chantells (the beautiful Children Of Jah which always gets the hairs on my neck) and other lesser knowns Lopez Walker, The Terrors, Errol Davies.
Produced by Roy Francis on his Phase One label, always a sign of quality roots & lovers music.
Children Of Jah The Chantells & Friends 1977 - 79
This lovely 10 track compilation is available on Tidal, 7" edits (occasionally very slightly muddy sound) but still an essential listen.
If cranking this up doesnt make you feel good, well…
