Another artist who criminally appears not get enough dues is the great Joe Higgs.
Involved in the JA music from its inception, he was a key figure in its development. He mentored many young artists and tutored them in musicianship and vocal technique, including The Wailers (who were first introduced to each other by Higgs at these sessions in his “yard”) and Jimmy Cliff.
It can be considered imo that without Higgs there may never have been a Bob Marley & The Wailers.
A strong songwriter who wrote songs for many artists and was rarely credited.
Pressure Sounds re issued his fine first two LP’s and I’m pleased to spot them available on Tidal.
Check them out

Hi
I found The Hu a little monotonal, couldn’t really tell when one song ended and another started and I didn’t feel such a wide soundscape as Wardruna or the vocal gymnastics of Heilung

However, they were being played back to back with Heilung so I may have been suffering from ‘Proto-music’ fatigue.

Don’t let me put you off tho have a listen but in isolation hence the Robert Cray earlier :grinning:

Thanks v much. Pretty much as I thought. I’ll give it a (virtual) spin later.

On to some more streamed radio blues.
This time in mp3/128 but still great content.

If the stellar album wasn’t enough, the artist has also created the first ever-evolving augmented reality album cover and sleeve. Having the ability to change background depending on your time of day, year and weather, the album cover is an innovative creation that perfectly represents the singer’s ingenious album.

The triple LP release looks interesting:
Record 1 - The Album
Record 2 - Piano Versions
Record 3 - The Remixes + Bonus Tracks

Seems to be some pretty stellar marketing by your mate. Qobuz-zing it now…

Not the best known track from Massive Attack but one of my favourites. The Spoils features the wonderful voice of Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star .

The RJ stuff is very clever though… and great songs.

Pierre Hantaï, Domenico Scarlatti, vol. 1. Mirare CD.

Discussions in another thread about good sounding harpsichord records led me to pick this CD this morning. IMO Scarlatti is an underrated composer and Pierre Haitaï’s inspired interpretation supports that.

Mirare sound quality is excellent, detailed but not tiring sound as the harpsichord can easily be.
