(Neither the new fancy Hi-Res stream/download nor the good old vinyl LP. Just my ordinary and boring CD rip. I am loving it anyway …)

Fat Mattress (1969)…what a great name for a band!
Cover folds out into a 4 panel poster, they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

Anouar Brahem - Blue Maqams

Anouar Brahem (Oud), Dave Holland (Double Bass), Jack DeJohnette (Drums) and Django Bates (Piano).

Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… continuing on this Thursday morning with Anouar’s Blue Marqams. Love this album and the first track ‘Opening Day,’ just shines. A fantastic quartet and the music sounding sublime!

Pink Floyd. Dark side of the moon.
Yes I know but I’m in the early stages of exploring qobuz so I’m playing albums I already own and know well.

This is a very fine modern piano trio album. End of Summer by the Espen Eriksen trio.

I would urge all who appreciate Laura Marling to give this one a listen.
It is her side project “Lump”.
Album title “Animal”.
A collection of really good songs. She seems to have talent to burn.
Great sound quality on cd as a bonus.

More brilliant piano led jazz. I love Village Vanguard live albums. I’ve only been once and would love to go again. But this is cheaper!

Simply amazing playing. Probably my favourite jazz saxophonist and the support band ain’t bad either.

Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita

Anouar Brahem (Oud), Klaus Gesing (Bass Clarinet), Björn Meyer (Bass) and Khaled Yassine (Darbouka, Bendir).

Streamed on Qobuz (44.1/24)… continuing on this afternoon Anouar’s fantastic ‘The Astounding Eyes of Rita’ and he and the quartet are sounding mighty sweet!
