This album was part of a great reasonably priced series. I have the Cream, Focus and Taste editions, do you have any others Andy?
Sarah McLachlan - Wintersong, includes a lovely version of Joni’s " River ".
I have the Velvet Underground release in this series - selected from their second and third albums.
Sorry David, get it now👍
Naked City - Absinthe
Extract from review
Joey Baron plays bags of dry leaves, fishing reels and buckshot. Bill Frisell solos on a microtonal guitar. Wayne Horvitz samples everything from crickets to Giacinto Scelsi. Fred Frith does what he does best. Zorn doesn’t even touch the saxophone."
The final track, “…Rend Fou”, is a six-minute recording of Frisell and Frith running their guitar jacks over the inputs of their guitars.
Sometimes you have to play it as it lays.
On the plus side the car was full of mince pies
I’d just have get out and hitchhike.
The Floyd have just dropped a dozen previously unreleased “live albums” on streaming services. All are from 1970-72 and most are of bootleg quality. They appear to be official, so they are doing it presumably as a copyright thing. This is one of them. Good performance though I can’t say it’s high fidelity.
One of those rare albums that mirrors, acknowledges and somehow transcends its roll call of influences.
I never knew it existed until later on when Shack came to some prominence in the 2000s.

I was intrigued by your description, so I went in search of the album. Unable to find Absinthe on Qobuz, instead I found this:
Naked City - Live in Quebec ‘88
Curiously, I suspect the same description could be applied to this one too!
I love anything Zorn, Frisell, Frith
Grand Guignol is another of my favorite Naked City albums.
