Well-meaning and positive, ‘Zoom In’ is the aural equivalent of wishing somebody a ‘Happy Hump Day!’ over email, while wearing a daft grin. For all its flaws, this is a hard record to hate. It’s also nice to hear that, instead of moaning about being caged in a massive mansion, this celebrity is focusing on lifting the rest of us up instead.
Ween, Chocolate And Cheese, cd rip
A random Asset suggestion… I admit the cover swayed me.
“Ween originally wanted the cover to have a “gay sailor theme” but the studio thought this was inappropriate, opting instead for a woman’s body on the cover. The band say that they never got to meet the cover model, Ashley Savage.”
Oh and quite good American Rock ![]()
Israel Nash Gripka, Barn Doors And Concrete Floors, cd rip
Another excellent IN(G) album. As prompted by @dav301
Tord Gustavsen Trio - The Ground
Just right for this time of day. I probably post this CD here too much.
Alluring and devotional. David Axelrod weaves a hymnal with a sixties sensibility. Mostly the latter.
Suggested by a friend a few weeks ago, listening and enjoying for only the second time.
Michael Stanley Band “Cabin Fever” (1978) Bob Pelander joins the band on keyboards for this first release on Arista (note - Bob also was a guest on the live Stage Pass album previously listed)
Sarah Jane Morris and Tony Rémy - Sweet Little Mystery
The songs of John Martyn reinterpreted. Which is a fancy way of saying covered.
Annie Lennox - Bare
One of her best albums. Wonderful singing and sounds. The bass is wonderful in its many manifestations.

Michael Stanley Band “Greatest Hints” (not a typo) (1979) Personnel changes on this release - guitarist Jonah Koslen departs and replaced by Gary Markasky, bassist Dan Pecchio departs and replaced by Daniel Gismondi, and addition of second keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Raliegh. The video is a mix of several songs from the album.
Still my favourite Norah Jones record I actually got into this before and preferred it to Come Away With Me, if you have a record player the Analogue Productions version is excellent and still not too pricey.
Now you are talking I’ve got the 12" too we also have the LP on CD which has a very good cover of Odyssey’s Inside Out. Love BRM’s voice.
This would make a great addition to my House Music thread.
Hi Bob, yes I really enjoy her first three, she had a nice little band there and so well produced. At the moment the only time I listen to records is when i visit my Dad, but still purchase the odd album, so something to look out for, cheers
