Thanks @seakayaker will do, hope you get to see your grandkids soon as well.
…some time over the past couple of years someone on this thread introduced ‘Rumer’ to me. I had not played her music preciously. That is why this is my favorite thread, always being introduced to artists that I have not played previously! Life is Grand and the music is sweet…
Apologies for double posting but i just had to
Whilst rummaging through my collection for something to listen to next, I rediscovered this which I’d forgotten I had.
The notes on Qobuz start by saying…
Mahler left no recordings of his music except for the piano rolls he made for the Welte-Mignon Company in 1905, which consist of a reduction of the first movement of his Symphony No. 5, the accompaniment of the songs “Ging heut morgen über’s feld” and “Ich ging mit Lust durch einen grünen Wald,” and the finale of the Symphony No. 4, Das himmlische Leben. For this Preiser CD, the rolls have been played on Mahler’s own Blüthner grand piano with an adapter, the Welte Vorsetzer or “push-up player,” as opposed to using a player piano. This is as close to an authentic Mahler recording as anyone can produce, including his dynamics, attacks, pedaling, and occasional mistakes, as well as the sonorities of his own piano; only his tempos had to be approximated.

I was lucky enough to get to know Joe a bit as he lived locally to me, a wonderful warm person. Always loved his music and this new release is a great tribute with good sq, amazing artwork too.
Got my mits on this recording recently and it’s great.
The good news is that there is a load more that you’ll enjoy if you like this one and not just by the MJQ.
Post-punk is making a come back. But this is one of the best from one of the originals.
