Sat at the top of the garden on a bench in the sun with a bottle of ghostship listening to a Blackbird doing its thing. The whole gamut of trills, tweets, sqwauks, beeps, peeps and gurgles. Must be circular breathing too. Like listening to Roland Kirk!
Anyone who follows the guitar thread might remember that I’ve recently taken up bass guitar, since which time, Don has been my inspiration.
And still on looped repeat here … Belter!
Maybe I’ll get to hear you run some riddim sometime
The Bench Connection - “Around The House In 80 Days”
(Matt Deighton and Chris Sheehan)
Prompted by @BlueCanary sat in the garden enjoying a pale ale and some current bun…
The great Bob Andy - Freely
No apologies needed, and I agree, this is a belter of an album. Thanks to @johnt from me also.
Trance Blues of the highest order to compare with Otis Taylor IMO.
Paul Weller - Live Wood.
First listen, on vinyl…
Just arrived this morning. Pressings are flat and they sound very, very good. Wished she was still with us.
I absolutely love the Clash, but can’t help thinking that London Calling is a little overhyped/overrated. The first 2 albums are spectacularly good, particularly the first, which is the most overtly political. I don’t know this Midnight Oil album, so will give it a whirl.
Been getting back into RC the last couple days. Great musician, both vocally and as a blues guitarist.
The Carpenters. Gold. Thanks to @Filipe for nudging me to dig out this compilation cd. Very pleasant listening.
On vinyl:
Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
Matt Berninger - Serpentine Prison, on vinyl…
