Mildlife - Automatic (2020)
Afternoon jazz funk from this Melbourne quartet. Their second album and it’s solid stuff… first one ‘Phase’ is excellent too.
One of the very best of the 80s or any other decade for that matter
Russell Ferrante Trio Inflexion / 2021 Blue Canoe / US CD / BC1456
Another play of this excellent recent purchase.
Charles Lloyd & The Marvels - Tone Poem
Enjoying a first listen to this, love the Pedal Steel Guitar on some tracks adding a countryish kind of vibe.
I really liked Vanished Gardens with Lucinda William’s, but this I think is better still
Been streaming this over the weekend. Initially to hear if it was worth buying, cautious of posthumous barrel scraping.
No need to be, the performances on here in my view better anything on the 3 studio albums and reminds how good a live performer she was. I never got to see her live so it’s good to have these.
My only slight criticism, maybe it’s me, on the stream I thought the Jools Holland recordings sounded like I was listening to my lo-fi telly.
Anyone care to comment on the vinyl SQ?
Cheers
